I'm glad I'm not the only one who almost choked on my Coke when I read that...

But, my best-case scenario for Rice next year is to make the occassional clutch 3, provide spot shooting a la Del Curry/late Eddie Robinson...expecting any more from an older, out-of-shape for the past few years and fading badly, coming off a season ending injury has-been is wishfull thinking...

Does someone actually think the Wizard has defense?

Anyway, he's only here for another year, then he's most likely to retire.
By the way, has anyone justified us getting him???

The buyout amount is amortized over the remaining contract length.

Example - Instead of ~$20m over two years, Rice agrees to a lump sum $6m. That six million is then applied to the cap at $3m/year for two seasons.

I won't bore you with the math, but trust me - unless Rice agrees to something ridiculous like a $3m lump sum we are better off with him and the MCE.

I would just like to take a moment to salute anyone, at any time, who can contrive to get the word " amortized" into a sentence....

I thought Walt Williams was Walt Williams without the defense. ;)

I can't get a good feel for what Rice will do next year. I guess that's because we didn't see much of him this last year. My feelings are that anything positive will merely be a bonus. I'm certainly not pinning my hopes on anything he can provide.
