Does anyone else think the name Huston "Choke City" Street is a clever nickname? I love it.

About as clever as you are humble, T_J!:D

Seriously, from a UT ex....major props to Rice. Last night they kicked the door in, and Rice is now truly the team of destiny in the CWS. I'll be rooting for them this weekend.

I concur, especially when the same player set a CWS record for most saves just a year ago. And the team that the person who came up with that "clever" name could barely win a game in Omaha before this year. Rice fans really can't talk about choking (waiting for heypartner to tell me that this is the only year that matters).

I was going to root for Rice this weekend, but I can't do it now thanks to some people in this thread. That, and the obnoxious horns down.

This is the Rice celebration thread so I didn't want to bring up Texas but you guys already did so I'll reply.

I don't think it would have mattered had he fielded the ball cleanly. Rice would have sent the runner from 2nd home anyways. It was over when the ball was hit out of the infield.

I can't believe you haven't attacked Omar "not an amateur" Quintanilla yet. Are you losing your touch?

I don't blame Rice fans for celebrating. Hell, if we won I'd be ripping Rice a new one on the board for choking. The better team won. It doesn't matter to me who wins the CWS. Would be nice to see Houston guys win it.

Exactly. There's no way we'd have thrown the guy out.

Well, it's hard to complain about that one since he did serve a 22-game suspension, IIRC. Of course, didn't Tim Moss do this to a man that did something to his girlfriend? Not excusing his actions, but I remember thinking that I would've done the same when I heard what the guy had done. I could be wrong though.

I don't blame them for celebrating either. You can do it with class though. I don't remember any UT players rolling around on the ground like dead owls after we beat them last year, breaking calculators or pocket protectors, or any crap like that. Also, I wouldn't have said that Rice choked for even a second. These are the two best teams in college baseball. UT may have choked in the first meeting, but you can't say either team choked last night.

I've about had it with this "polite way" of telling us that we are classless. Give me a break. Rice won the game. Rice celebrates on Rice's terms. If UT has a problem with Rice's celebration, they should have won the game. Calling the other team and/or the other teams fans "classless" is such immature thinking. The first thing that comes into your mind after a loss is to try to discredit the other team or somehow show them in a bad light because you're pissed they beat you. Take it like a man, longhorns (even if you didn't go to the school, yet you're STILL offended about the horns down). A couple of players show some stupid hand gesture and you guys deem all of Rice classless. PULEASE. You lost, you be quiet now.

That's not my hand. That's from www.ricefootball.net. They didn't even run a story on it, just posted that photo. That is all that needed to be said.

    Serious question.

Why do UT fans get so riled up from it? I would think they would be used to it, from OU and A&M fans and whoever else doing it.

I don't know. I don't really care, but then again I'd wear an OU t-shirt cause I think Bob Stoops is an awesome coach.

hey, eliminated fans. why don't you go to back your eliminated CWS thread.

this is getting ridiculous. it *always* happends. If UT gets eliminated by OU, the stuff just goes on and on.

You want to show some class, allow people to discuss this the freaking rest of the worlds series.

    umkay.

If you want to whine and be all sore losers and stuff, you already have RM95's thread for that, and the UT bbs, too. I can't believe eliminated fans keeping going on and on and on.

We have a finals showdown this weekend.

as for all the Rice fans....leave these guys be. Don't ruin this thread. Sometimes I don't think anyone knows anything about preventing threads from derailing.

    GO OWLS!!

Nevermind...I'll be the bigger man. Even though I didn't even go to UT.

    that's a good hangout boy. ;)

but why did you edit your post and call me out earlier in this thread with no bragging rights provocation from me. ;)

I want to celebrate Rice! Who cares about discussing eliminated teams.

btw: I know you know what I'm talking about when the OU/UT football game threads go on and on. You strike me as a sports fan who knows how to cherish wins for the pure joy of it..., like myself and TheFreak and Drewdog. So, you also know (despite your comment "I expect hp to come in and say it's all about the next game")...well, it *IS* all about the current and next games. Hence, this thread. Reminescing and discussing history is sweet and fun, but sports really is about the next game...that's the real fun...and that's the difference between your spiraling CWS thread and this one....the inevitable bragging rights and sore loser pouting (not you) following UT's elimination happens...and that's why Rice fans want to leave your thread.

See, many Rice fans want to celebrate and move on. and we need to talk about Rice going into this weekend. Allow us that, or you are just being a sore loser and jumping threads to do it. (Like I say, I'm not really meaning you...but others. Including kidrock8 just tagging along like a troll to try to sidetrack this thread.)

kidrock8, quit being a frigging troll. it's not interesting.

And RIET, you are a dumbass for having Buck put kidrock8 in his signature....all that does is make the trolling more effective....you're still just a newbie on this bbs. :D
