S#it, it was a Memorial HS reunion. A&M starting pitcher Dan Donaldson had to go toe-to-toe with Jorgenson and Davis. On the bench for A&M was Memorial alum SS Parker Dalton.

    30 games!

Amazing, no matter what the competition. I reiterate, I want the CWS title to stay in state if the Horns can't repeat.

The record is 34 games, held jointly by UT and Florida Atlantic.

The competition during the streak has been tough. We're 6-0 versus the "almighty Big XII" - and that's against their very best teams (Baylor x 2, UT, Nebraska, A&M x 2). We're 10-0 versus ranked opponents this season. This streak has no asterisk by it at all.

Why put almighty Big XII in quotes? Just because Rice is on an amazing win streak doesn't make the conference any worse. It's not like the WAC is an all-world conference.

How amazing would it be if, Rice, the school with an enrollment of 4,000+ wins the CWS?

You must be including graduate students in the figure. Undergraduate enrollment is approximately 2,700.

Irregardless... I still want them to win.

I think Townsend could be the Astros #3 starter...

Yup. We lost to Lamar tonight. It was still a good game to watch. They have a nice team. Now time to start a new streak, and carry it through Omaha!!!

"Humble in victory, gracious in defeat."

Or if you're me, arrogant and boastful in victory, pissed and irritable in defeat.

Lamar deserved to win. They hit 2 homers off of Aardsma, a first team preseason All-American expected to be picked in the top 5 of the draft. If you can do that, you deserve to win. Good for them, this is a win they'll remember for the rest of their lives. Had Rice won, no one would have remembered anything about the game. Let them have their day in the sun. This could honestly be the best day of some of their lives. Beating the #1 team on the road.

It also could be a motivating tool for Rice, not that Rice had been playing lackadaisacal.

Awesome. I am a Lamar Alum. They are pretty good about beating Rice once a season. They also generally beat LSU once a year too. If Rice had to lose the streak this is the team I am glad they lost it to.

Rice has lost 4 of their last 6. Bit early since the CWS is two months away, but Rice looks to be hitting post season form. Where are the cheapshots at the big 12 now?

You are still upset that UT wasn't good enough to beat Rice this year? Get over your Rice-envy. I'm sorry you aren't smart enough to go to Rice, but don't take it out on the people who are -- like myself.

I'm pretty sure that he, like all other UT fans, can deal with a loss in March or April. It's the wins in June that count.
