Anybody here a current student or alumni of the jones business school MBA program? what are your experiences/thoughts? trying to decide if i want to attend or not.. thanks
I had a client that went there. She was a spoiled idiot, and I was shocked she was even admitted to a Rice school in the first place. I believe she went on to work at a college making decent money somewhere, fwiw.
rice's MBA program is not nearly as elite or selective as their undergrad programs... the MBA acceptance rate is pretty high.. but it's my understanding that the rice name carries some weight in texas simply because their undergrad is so good.. any thoughts?
I'd like to pursue my MBA. I graduated with a BBA in marketing and management in 2006. My gpa wasn't too great, so I decided against going for an MBA. When does gpa not count anymore? haha
The avg salary for Rice MBA graduates used to be at around 92 K I believe. It may be a bit lower now with the economy. One of my sister's graduated from there about 3 years ago and is making 6 figures in the oil and gas industry. Another sister is awaiting her acceptance letter. The key is to do a full time MBA, and to get an internship with a big firm. Hope that helps...
I don't really have anything to contribute to this topic, since I didn't attend Rice for undergrad or grad school, but I finally just noticed that your name has 3 L's. That's all.
One of my friends left the Jones School after one year and transferred to CMU. IMO, the prestige of Rice -- academics / undergrad / business school -- is a manufactured one.
I'm a Rice undergrad (graduating in a couple of months), and the MBA program from what I hear is getting very good and in few more years will be recognized as elite... that may be propaganda though haha.
i've heard this before as well, and it does seem like hype generated by the rice administration itself... if the degree is worth more a few years down the line, then it may not be bad to go there...
McCombs over Rice MBA any day of the week. Rice MBA is good in Houston. McCombs MBA is good anywhere in the Southwest. McCombs isn't that effective outside the region but at least people have heard of it and there are a handful of alums here and there.
My wife went there. She graduated as one of the Jones Scholars. Program seems to have a lot more assignments that other grad schools. She said it can be very competitive. Said almost entire program is geared towards Finance and IBanking. However everyone with a lucrative job got laid off soon after graduation.
