You're talking about the Sheed who powered the Pistons to their title. After that SHeed lost his fire and lost all interest in the game. I don't where you got your little list from but it sure isn't Rasheed this season. As someone who watched a lot of Piston games he was whining for shots so he could take the spot up three (which he missed more often than not) and he stopped playing defense altogether. Add to that the fact that he said he would not sign for less then 8 mill and I say pass. How would Luis Scola, Hayes and Landry feel if they were working their asses off and then they Rasheed who's making their salaries combined slacking off on defense and launching ill-advised threes left and right? I guarantee a mutiny and a team implosion if we sign Sheed at that price
Sheed is good backup for C he can play C and PF, he can step out and shoot gives us more options, he can defend both 4 and 5, he got championship and deep playoff experiences. Lets wait and see
Rasheed and Artest on the same team... I don't think that is a good idea. He'd be a excellent piece though....
So you're saying you're on board for for doing a S&T for Wallace at about 9 mil a year? Because that's what it'll take if you want to trade McGrady for Wallace and Rip.
Rick Adelman will control them both. If one of them acts crazy, Rick will seat one or the other (like he's done with Wafer). At 9 mill a season for Sheed and if it increases our chances in winning a ring, why not? You got RIP playing the 2 and Sheed either spreading the floor playing PF or coming off the bench at backup center. Scola will either start or play back up Center/PF
Have you seen Wallace in action the past couple of seasons? The man has mailed it in. He's even said that if he doesn't get a new contract and has to retire, he'll be fine getting a regular normal job. Rasheed Wallace without that passion and desire is just another old, past his prime, veteran that doesn't increase our chances of getting a ring moreso than if we sign, say, Chris Andersen.
the question is would Sheed be ready to play backup C? I dont want Sheed to start instead of Luis Scola.. Scola is a perfect complement to Yao and I dont want to see him losing minutes because of this guy. plus Sheed is lazy at times.. he is very volatile.. we already have one volatile guy in our team..
Spurs cant be up to anything. FA period doesnt start until July 1. You cant talk or negotiate anything with a FA until then.
Maybe getting Rasheed means no Artest? From today's chron blog (Richard Justice): "By the way, I don't believe Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest will still be Rockets when training camp begins." http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/archives/2009/06/i_never_stopped.html DM might be willing to forgo resigning Artest to get a quality big man with the possibility that Yao will be out for an extended period of time. This certainly bumps the priorities for player acquisition. I can see Rasheed being the Rockets temp starter at center until Yao is back (if he comes back).
Not a big fan but we know he can play Center and PF. When healthy, he could be the Robert Horry Yao never had. Yao Sheed Scola Landry Hayes Not bad at all (even if one of those guys was moved).
Your act is getting old. Is there really a need to spew this type of crap in every thread? As for the topic at hand, i'm not wild about the idea. He's still a good post defender and was clearly the x-factor on that Pistons championship team, but all he does is camp out on the perimeter anymore. Plus, he looked VERY old in (and bad) in that Cleveland series. I would prefer a more traditional backup center.
