Damn. This would be hard. I love T-Mac and can't think of another player I would rather have to partner with Yao, IF he's healthy. But man, Yao's play of late has whetted my appetite for what could be and I don't want to see his best years wasted b/c our other star can't get past his injuries. I say if this deal is really on the table pull the trigger.
I don't know where KG likes to set up on the block, but you have to consider that putting two offensive 7 foot guys on the same squad is going to lead to a lot of crowding on offense. It happened with Hakeem and Charles, and even then we still had Drexler or Pippen. On paper it looks good, but in practice it's bad for spacing.
If tmac comes back 80% to 90%, he should keep the driving to the basket to minimum so that he will stay healthy longer, which is very important. It has been shown that his body simply cannot take that much physical punishment night in and night out.
I think talent-wise it's a wash. So if you can trade small for big, you definitely do it. However, the x-factor here is that KG is not a go-to guy, like TMAC is.
Ugh. It's going to be a long postseason. It's frustrating enough to read crap suggestions like this from impatient fans, but it gets even more annoying when BSPN starts to spread them too.
This deal doesn’t really excite me all that much. If they threw in Mccants, I’d probably make the deal, but if not I’d probably pass. It just leaves us too limited in what we can do to improve the supporting cast around Yao and Garnett. If we’re going to move Mcgrady, I’d just move him to whichever team gives us the most talent back, even if none of the players acquired are superstar players like Garnett. We absolutely need more flexibility and we need to stockpile as many tradable assets as possible, because right now we have none, outside of Yao and Mcgrady.
If it's true that the source of McGrady's back problems this year is a bulging disc, I would have to consider it. Chances of it not becoming a worsening issue over time are slim to none. Back surgery (partial laminectomy or microdiscectomy) may have serious repruccusions to the tune of Larry Johnson. KG is no spring chicken at this point either, he's been struggling with nick-nack ankle and knee problems for the last two years. However, he and Yao would form the most terrifying frontcourt duo (offense and defense) in recent history. We would be completely bare at the 2 and 3, but those are the easiest positions in the league to restock at, especially with an expendable Stromile. Evan
First Do the Trade... 2nd Minnesota would just laugh at us and proably every message board out there that thinks we even have a chance at getting KG for Tracy. KG Will provide that interior rebounding and has a decent mid-range jumper to draw the defense away from Yao. Sign up some respectable shooting perimeter players and we have a better chance with actually going to the finals let alone winning it. KG provides that locker room presence and on the Floor he is a general. KG only has about 3-4 good years left ( almost the same as T-mac ( Back ) ) We need some firepower and someone who can scream and yell out there on the floor.
KG for TMac - Do it. I only do this trade because of TMac's health concerns. Key Points 1. Yao / KG would compliment each other well because KG does not play in the low post. (still not as complimentary as Yao / TMac) 2. We would own the boards 3. TMacs health is a concern but so is KG's humongous contract (old cba contract) 4. We would need to move JHoward in the deal 5. TMac for KG who would laugh at that? thats a superstar for superstar deal. Alston Bogans ????? KG Yao we can then move pieces like Stro for a decent SG plus our lottery picks. might be a very interesting off season. J
Ah, yes. The pick and roll with Yao and Garnett. How long was that wonderful interlude between the "trade Yao" and "trade McGrady" screamfests? I think there were a couple of blissfully quiet days in there.
Garnett is probably the only guy on the block that is on equal level with TMac. I voted yes for 2 reasons. First, as said by so many here, I love TMac and really hate to see him go. But his health is a huge concern. The second reason is that getting Garnett would prevent him from going to the Lakers or the Knicks. Also, the first round pick is a good sweetener. It might turn out to be better than Head. And then we can trade Swift for a good SG.
I thought I was the only one longing for those days. Unfortunately now we're going to deal with this crap until August. Oh well...if only ClutchFans didn't rock so much -- if this was RealGM I'd have left in disgust already.
KG would make the entry pass to Yao easier. But I don't think KG could pull a miracle comback like TMac did against the Spurs. mmmm..... I'm torn. Lets wait and see we're we end up in the lotto.
If Rudy managed an offense with Hakeem AND Barkley AND Clyde AND Kevin Willis all demanding touches on the left block, JVG could figure out how to utilize two post players in Yao and KG. Especially when Garnett is more of a high post player, more comfortable operating facing the basket from 10 to 12 feet out than dominating the ball from the post. And if there's one thing KG does, it's share the ball - he doesn't like to dominate the ball every possession, and is an excellent passer. I'd do this deal, only because I think Tracy's injuries have the potential to linger long term, making Garnett the safer health risk. I love what TMac brings to the floor, love his attitude, but there's a chance he never returns to who he was.
does anyone actually believe Bucher? I've forgotten how credible he is at the moment. slipped my mind.
In the SF years, who would thought we actually have a shot at getting KG? It's always nice to have assets.
Not intended but true in so many ways.... No way we do that deal, their game doesn't compliment them each other, Yao and KG. T-mac was fine, more or less, his first year, he'll be fine next year
Is this serious? This sounds like a Sam Smith-esque 'trade rumor'. (BTW - if true, add JuHo and Rickie into the equation.)
