And this makes him different from other GMs how?

The best players Morey has ever traded were a #8 pick(assuming you believe that was Morey's move), Landry, and Ariza. The best players CD have traded were Horry, Cassell, Francis, Mobley, Dickerson, Prizbilla... am I missing anyone else? Not sure why Morey gets so much flak for trading away rotting corpses of guys like T-Mac and VSpan.

People who say those things are still hurting from the T-mac trade.

not being on the trading block and being un-touchable are two completely different things.

Morey would be brain dead to trade Scola IMO. Right now the vet leader of the team is obviously Battier but right behind him is Scola. While Scola probably will never get any better then he is now, he is a solid PF with probably another 2-3 years left and the sort of player that would actually help younger talent like Hill and Patterson develop.

You make trades that make the team better, what has plagued the Rockets since the Barkley trade was we'd trade to get a star and then surround him with crap until the "superstar" is no longer a star. If the Rockets are going to be a contender in the next 3 years, trading away all the talent for "stars" will hold us back from being a contender... again.

This year we are not going to win anything even if we bring another above average player. Then, we should get rid of Battier and Hayes and concentrate on developing our young players!! The minutes RA gives to Battier and Hayes are not helping us but preventing the progression on our future.

Morey's case to Bosh against Bosh going to Miami was that Miami only be a 45 win team cuz they don't have any depth.

Then Morey gives Miami the depth?

Whats the point of improving yourself if you hand a team a dynasty that you can't ever beat?

If the Rockets are to do that, might as do a full rebuild and start over than retooling.

SAY NO TO CHRIS BOSH. There is a reason why the Heat are losing, CB4 is not providing the low post presence they need, lets not make the same mistake. He'd be a good fit if we had some other superstar who is a sure bet and can carry most of the load. Plus I think Scola brings MORE value to the table than Bosh, he's MUCH cheaper yet provides a similar type of production.

Also as others have said, Yao is an untouchable at this point, only a fool would think otherwise.

Yes. NO to Bosh! If we are gutting the team, we need to do it for someone like Dwight Howard. Why would we want to make Miami better anyway?

Yao to Miami. He can win with Lebron, Wade. Trade Bosh for Yao.

From Chad Ford's chat. Pretty much what has already been said.

Should have moved Scola when he was cheap. He's a great guy, but his future is now and the Rockets' is not.

Scola and Martin are overpaid compared to what?

I'm sure Ford has his sources and I agree with him that the "superstar" deal isn't easy to come by right now, to say the least, but I don't think there are many non-rookie-scale players who (a) make less than the $10-11 mil/yr that Scola/Martin makes and (b) are better than these two.

I think the problems are (1) nobody is trading their superstars (or top prospects) yet, and (b) those who are probably want picks, salary savings, young players, etc. (the kind of stuff the Nets are offering) in return rather than established good players that the Rockets have.

Agreed. Maybe some teams don't want to be paying Scola $10.2M in 2013-14. Otherwise, he's not really overpaid by NBA standards. But perhaps some teams think that only superstars will make eight-figure salaries under the new CBA. Who knows?

The fact that he fails to distinguish between Yao's expiring contract(insured) and the "tons floating around"(uninsured) tells me that while he may have legit "sources", he may not be very good at connecting the dots.

I'd be disgusted if we traded Scola for Bosh or Bosh period he's overrated and didnt want to play here to begin with. Miami is winning games and they'll win tonight but usually trades happen right after or before the 2 teams play...
