after bonzi turned down the sweet offer from sacramento and realized he couldnt get anything close to that from any other team, im pretty sure he just went into "i dont care" mode. If I lost about 30 million bucks in one summer, i'd probly go on an eating binge too. Van Gundy didnt do anything wrong in handling the situation if you ask me.
You have got to be kidding...if that's what you got out of the quote you need to double check your reading comprehension skills! That quote had zero to do with JVG! It's not like JVG CHOSE to only pay him $2 mil or could've paid him more if he wanted to!
That's so cookie cutter of what every bonzi hater wants to hear. I'm by no means a bonzi apologist, but we are talking about sports journalism, first off. Then it's that the writer heard that a friend of bonzi heard bonzi say this? It's possible! But it also holds about was much water as any other gossip piece in a tabloid.
I'd think Wells probably had that in mind when he signed with the Rockets, but I'm sure he wanted to play well, especially near the end of the season, and the playoff, 'cause that would have helped his next contract. He didn't get it, because there is no way JVG would let him cruise through 2/3 of the season, then play big minutes at the end. I'm not defending Wells, just try to make sense of the situation.
LMAO...the same people bad-mouthing Wells would be on their knees bowing to him if he'd have had a 2006-07 playoff equivalent to his 2005-06. Wells has always been quircky...but Van Gundy's "My way or the highway" approach destroyed any possibility of reconciliation. Then again, I'm sure there are posters here who can't believe that Wells would have wanted to have a productive 06-07 season to avoid another monetary setback in the summer of '07. No player EVER wants to do well in a contract year.
GATER, you're one of my favorite basketball posters, but since we traded gay for battier you've been wearing hater glasses. bonzi wells was a fat malcontent who didn't perform well because he chose not to. he may not have clashed with another coach like he did with jvg, but his **** season is entirely on him. he didn't want to put in the work and i can't even begin to understand how anyone sees that differently.
True, but I think Gundy could have done a better job at giving him more minutes and playing him more consistently. I could understand if our roster was loaded with talent, but outside of Yao, McGrady, and possibly Battier, we don't have a single above average NBA player. I think this season would have ended better if we had Bonzi starting at the 2, McGrady at the 3, with Battier coming off the bench.
A fourth of what he's worth? JVG should have played him only 1 quarter of each game. That would have got our money's worth.
no bonzi was fat and he sucked. he could have earned more minutes if he wanted to but when he played he simply wasn't as good as the people van gundy used in front of him. van gundy didn't leave the spurs' series bonzi to rot on the bench.
Yeah, I guess that's why he quit on the team. JVG told him that for the last 8 games he was going to get PT along with Snyder so he could set the playoff rotation, and he quits. "Quirky?" That's laughable. This is the same player who was thrown off of Memphis' team for the playoffs
