it seems to me it is too little to get melo. in your case, rox would have to compete with other teams which provide no less package than rox.

    Where are you hearing this?

Edit: in general about an Anthony trade,
I am not holding my breath on this. While it would be nice, just not optimistic.

And far too much to give up.....unless we are signing him to an extension.

Off the top of my head what team would provide a similar package that could contend. You don't trade for Melo knowing he will walk unless your going for the title.

    Lakers - NO
    Dallas - Maybe
Portland - Maybe but it would take Batum, Flopzilla and another expiring but their pick won't be as good.
    Utah - NO
PHX - Maybe but they don't have much to trade left over.
New Orleans - NO, what good contracts can they give up along with talent after moving Collison.
    Boston - NO
    Miami - GOD NO
Orlando - MAYBE, they've got assets but lousy picks and not great expiring contracts.
    Chicago - NO
ATL - NO, nothing to trade unless they gut the team.

We've got a good young CHEAP wing, Expiring Contracts and what should be a pretty darn good 1st rd pick. Even if you throw in another piece, we still have the makeup of a Championship squad with Melo.

AlexKennedyNBA Oh boy, here we go. The Magic and Knicks are atop Carmelo Anthony's wish list according to @KBerg_CBS. http://tinyurl.com/2drg3m7

Allan Hahn has also been saying knicks offered gallanari, curry, and a future 1st round rdaft pick.

Sounds soooo much like the bosh deal : (

What is up with Orlando? I know they've got a dam good center and some nice pieces around him but the city isn't great, I mean it's not Miami, NY or LA?

I guess Vince's expiring could do it, what else..Nelson, Anderson and a lousy 1st rd pick?

Let's all hope Orlando steals him from NY.

the key in your proposal is chase and high 1st round pick.

i am not quite familiar with all young players in other teams. i've to do research on them. it will take my time to do so.

here i throw in one team first. what about new jersey? i look at their roster. anthony morrow is a young player. his 3s are pretty good. as far as i believe, new jersey should have a high pick next summer.

i will add more teams to the list after i done my research.

I know this is a fan board and everyone speculates including myself, but houston isn't in the picture no matter how many assets they have. No one wants to come play with a injury prone big like yao and a team that hasn't been past the 2nd round since 97. Now if we had great young talent and space, thats one thing, but we don't. We have a bunch of good players, which is cool. Denver will not trade him in the conference just like indy had the better deal and they sent tracy to the west. If they do trade him to the west, it will be for a all star caliber player and not a close to all star player and picks. I know people are excited and think houston is in great shape to get the super star, but they really aren't. Debbie Downer/Player Hater, thats me i guess right now. I just don't see it happening.

there, you said it, if you have a legit big, players will want to play for you. T-Mac only wanted to go to Houston to play with Yao.

    Probably same results.
    I don't like Melo.
I have been VERY disappointed in him since he came into the league.

    he imo is soft
    and
does not have ALL AROUND GAME.

He is a scorer . .. not exactly a shooter but a Scorer

His only interest for me .. is as trade bait.

You just don't want Brooks to get traded.

I do like Brooks, a lot...but I would trade him if it made the team better.

I believe just as Morey does that anyone is tradeable, as long as it makes the Rockets better.

DD, what is your ideal long term strategy for getting better with the Rockets.

I don't know what you're looking for, but he is a dominant player at his position. He's more scorer, but 6 rebs and 3 asst from the 3 spot is really good. 9fts per at 80%, isn't too shabby. You cant name 7 better players in the nba right now and he's 26.I don't think the rocket can get him, but if you get a chance to get carmello, you get carmello. He's that good and will be that good going forward.

I don't think there is one lars. I think they should've started over after yao's injury last year. The people in houston sense non contenders and the tc will be half full until they prove otherwise.
