RGV VIPERS ACQUIRE JAMELLE HAGINS MCALLEN, Texas, February 25, 2014 – Rio Grande Valley Vipers General Manager Gianluca Pascucci announced today that the team has acquired forward Jamelle Hagins. Hagins (6-9, 240, Delaware) most recently appeared in nine games with Chorale Roanne of the French LNB Pro A League, where he averaged 3.44 ppg and 4.78 rpg. During the 2013-14 NBA Summer League, Hagins appeared in four games with the Miami Heat and averaged 1 ppg and 2 rpg in four games. Hagins played four seasons at the University of Delaware from 2009-13, where he averaged 9.55 ppg and 8.51 rpg. During his junior campaign, Hagins averaged a double-double 12.38 ppg and 11.03 rpg. Hagins garnered Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Defensive Team honors in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2013, Hagins earned the CAA Defensive Player of the Year title and was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team. He was also named to the 2012 and 2013 All-CAA Second Team. I typically enjoy watching guys in college that can average greater than a steal and a block every 40 minutes pace adjusted. Typically it means long arms and active defensively.
