He interviewed for the head coaching position with the Rockets and was the lead assistant with the Thunder, is the lead assistant with the Raptors, so what would his title be here? Associate head coach?
Adding Rex would go a long way to making the Rockets staff first class. Rex would handle game day prep and advanced scouting. Problem is that he is close to Scott Brooks and he will be offered an associate head coach designation. The hope is that Les out bids everyone and the appeal of learning offense under D'Antoni sways him. Even if Rex joins, there are a few spots left. I would target Darren Erman as one assistant. He is brilliant. The last spot I would offer to Adrian Griffin or TR Dunn or Mario Elie. We want an experienced, professional staff that is smart but also set the culture of hard work and regimen.

He's the head assistant coach on a team that just went to the eastern conference finals. Why would he leave that to be just another assistant coach on a rebuild? I'm just happy we hired the Memphis dude.
Let's say Durant wants to play with Harden. The old adage of "let's get the gang back together" is a real thing. I'm not saying it's likely, but all of it is a real possibility.
The ploy is obvious to anybody who has eyes Rockets want Rex as added incentive for a certain free agent to sign with Houston(HINT- he would play small forward for us). It's a player that Rex has coached before, a multi time all star who just happens to be one of James Harden's best friends, as well as of course being an ex teammate of Hardens. Man y'all know who i'm talking about That's right Spoiler DEMAR DA-MAN DEROZAN!
Darrens an associate head coach, too. Not happening. If he was smart, he'd come here for a year and get that exposure to be a HC the year after.
Harden is already satisfied with all the booty he's gettings. This is to satisfy Durantula...hopefully.
Sorry, like Scott Brooks, don't buy it. If the Thunder thought a coach would help them keep Durant, they're [trying their hardest to] keeping that coach.
