Then you get Shaq shooting 50 fts a game.
I don't want the flip side either
where every strong move the basic has ginobili flailing up he steps of the aisles
and shaq fouling out in 5 minutes

They should assess a foul for FLOPPING!!
So when someone goes into the lane
It is a NO CALL, CHARGE or a FLOP FOUL

    Nice thread.

Only small issue is you have the time-line incorrect. The handcheck rule came first - directly following the '99 Spurs/Knicks (lowest rated ever) finals series. With the hand check rule, and (a still relatively spry) Robinson and Duncan behind the guards, teams simply were getting shut down. The hand-check rule is primary reason the Spurs dropped off the next year (along with Duncan's injury) - they neutered Mario Ellie's ability to guard the quick guards.

Makes you appreciate Jordan that much more; he did ALL of his damage before the rule; people who try to equate newer players to him just don't get it. Stern is trying to duplicate Jordan by "creating" him with handcuffs on the defenders. It ain't working.

I don't know about that. If true then it only started getting called last year. That's the difference. Maybe it was on the books before, but last year they league put down their foot and started calling hand-checking with consistency.

i thought the whole hand-checking thing evolved from what derek harper did to us in the finals.

last year was simply the league placing an emphasis on making the call, which then meant no perimeter contact.
