Saw it last night and it definately wasn't a family movie.

Mostly felt it was style over substance. Amazing visuals but so so stories. Lots of gore but very stylized.

It was awesome, loved the whole Bruce Willis / Alba thing. Damn the whores were fine.

Watched it today, this was Pulp Fiction on steriods if that is possible to imagine, more gratutious violence then PF and PF was pretty violent itself, but less funny then PF, less charasmatic then PF. I liked it, but couldn't help but think "I liked PF better" afterwards.

How does it compare to Natural Born Killers? I started watching NBK last night and ended up just turning it off, it was pretty bad.

Never watched NBK, but Oliver Stone is a different type of director and his violence and over the top gratutiousness in his films are different. Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino of course are good friends...but so far I've liked QT's work better then RR's.

They are sort of similar in the gratioutousness of the violence but that was the point of Natural Born Killers. I think Sin City is a better overall movie but not they're not quite comparable.

i have not seen the movie yet. but it seems from some of the negative reviews that they base it on too much violence. which usually doesnt bother me, obviously it has to have some purpose or style to accompany it.

Which is it more comparable to, Kill Bill or NBK? If I didn't like NBK but did like Kill Bill, do you think I would like Sin City?

More like Kill Bill in that the violence is aimed at mostly people who had it coming to them.

I thought the visuals & cinematography were incredible in the movie. Really made it have that comic book feel. The cast was excellent (especially Mickey Rourke), but I could have done without that girl from the gilmore girls. Jessica Alba is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo gorgeous, but I thought the story was TOO all over the place. The middle one with the whores of old city didn't really do it for me. I would give it 3 out of 5.;)

Geez, people use the phrase "gratuitous violence" like it's a BAD thing...

Mickey Rourke's character in Sin City is officially the most badass mofo in movie history...

Why did Yellow b*stard look like Quark got Gak'd?

And Bruce Willis is the ****ing man, Demi in her prime, Lindsay... on screen with Jessica. I bow to his greatness.

It seems EVERY woman takes it all off except the one I really wanted... Jessica Alba. LOL! Was Bruce Willis' character gay? How can you turn that down?!! LOL!

Cool movie. I liked it but have no earthly idea what the whole point was. It ended and I couldn't believe that was it. It sucks seeing a movie a leaving feeling like a complete dumb***. The other three people I went with had not a clue as well.

They should have named the movie "How Much can a Hero take before they Finally Die".

I agree with you on both points.

The movies style was just done so well that if you are any kind of film buff you just have to watch it with awe.

It was an excellent film that will be apperciated by most but those that didn't like will say it was the worst thing to hit the world since satan.

Excellent movie in my opinion, can't wait to see it again

Anyone who's seen it have an opinion on whether I could take my 13 year old son to see the flick? I can't wait, myself, because the trailers and buzz are awesome, but is it too violent, and whatnot, for a young teenager?

There is a LOT of violence but then again a lot of it is Stylized so you don't really get the full effect of it although you can clearly tell what is going on.

    LOTS of breasts too. :)

If you truly love your son, you will definately take him. 13 is a good age for a boy and his dad to watch a movie with lots of violence and boobies.

Seriously, I have no idea. I know when I was 13, I would have definately wanted to watch this movie. Watching it with my dad would have been weird, I think. Though, I did see Under Siege with my dad when I was like 10 (realistic violence and nudity). I don't think the violence will be a big deal, since it's so over the top and unreal. I don't know how you've raised your kid, but regardless of how liberal you are, I'm sure he'd still feel a bit weird at seeing breasts on screen with his dad sitting next to him.

I guess all we can do is give you an idea of the violence and sexual content which will help you decide.

Lots of gun shot wounds, there's limb dismemberment, beheadings, arrows and swords going through people's heads and torsos. As for the sexual content, 2 women are topless, quite a few walk around in thongs.
