Thanks for adding color comentary from the game! I hope more Rox fans will do the same at future road games. Anyone in Utah reading?
Great recap, thanks for sharing. I'm trying to get tix to the December game against the Nets in NJ. I already have tix to the January game at MSG. Hope a Rox rep comes to speak to me. That would be SO cool.
All of the Laker fans around us were really cool. They definitely didn't get very loud though. It seems to be much more upbeat in the TC. The one thing I noticed was the tradition of the Lakers. I've of course never, ever been a Laker fan but you could appreciate and respect the team. It was cool to experience but even cooler to get a win!
Great writeup. It's always interesting and entertaining to hear stuff like this, you won't find it in any post game article. I especially appreciate the tidbit about the team needing to yell and point to each other and getting used to the new offense early on.
Oh and to that lady usher in section 105/106....she's always been you know what all the years at Staples. Always an awesome feeling to walk out on the winning side!
I thought this thread was going to be about Hayes's free throw. j/k Great thread! Gotta love having Rockets fans all over the NBA!
I wonder who that lady was that was talking to all the players (no pun intended ). "Now I ain't sayin' she's a gold digger...."
That was a funny moment also. Even funnier was that when that happened, my Laker friends had the two seats to the right of me and I turned and told them that it would be funny if the lost the game by 2 and thats what ended up happening. I was having a blast with that all the back home.
My Laker friend and his girl were sitting in the seats next to us so that was very fun. He was talking lots of smack at the beginning when we were down by 10+. But I keep telling him that we are a 3rd quarter team and that I wasn't worrying. Then there were three guys behind me (around 28-30 years old) and they were a blast to just mess around with. Right off the bat, we started talking trash about each others teams. At one point, when Yao was just dominating Brown and Bynum, Chris Mihm came in and one of them was like "watch out, here comes the Mihminator" which I thought was hilarious. He was just being sarcastic but very funny. One point, Charle Sheen was walking through the aisle (about 5 rows in front of us) and one of the guys yelled at him "Hey charlie, I got some pot! You want some?!" That was also another great moment. Towards the end of the game, after I was talking a lot of smack, the Lakers made the run and when Fisher hit the jumpers, this one Laker fan I was going back in forth with, jump on the chairs in the row in between us (those ppl had left with 2 minutes left) and shook my hand and was like its no over! But when Shane hit his three, I just back on top of the chair and was swirling my jersey. That felt awesome! What a shot!
I don't think Francis is in as bad a mood as people make it out to be. He is a professional so he is obviously going to be upset if he doesn't play, but like he said himself, he understands why he isn't playing right now! There is still a 40% chance I think that he will get PT once he gets in shape. He realizes himself that he isn't in shape and is no where close to basketball form to be on the court.
No problem. I enjoy sharing the stories with fellow fans. Television cameras miss so many things thats its simply amazing.
I don't think he pouted at all or atleast didn't seem like it. I was looking over at the Rockets bench during every timeout and substitution and he seemed to be joking around with Arron Brooks and Carl Landry. I thought it was a great gesture for him to give up his seat to the rookies in the suits and lay on the floor.
Wow, that is the funniest thing in this entire thread. Great recap, with a real personal touch. Felt like I was there. Also good to hear that Penny Marshall gets a train run on her by most nba teams. Bonzi could be quite the conductor.
To spend an afternoon poolside with Francis is to be on the business end of a disarming, discursive filibuster. On this day Francis' ruminations range from the cranium size of Washington Redskins rookie linebacker LaVar Arrington ("It's huuuuge!") to the impact of Kentucky Fried Chicken preferences ("You're white, so I figured you'd like barbeque more than Original Recipe") to the best flavor of Slurpee at 7-Eleven ("Go with lime every time"). http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=6179 "I love the macaroni and cheese, some fried chicken — which I'm not supposed to eat; low sodium diet — and rice." http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page3/story?page=cityswap/orlando Are you racist?
