They did the same for years with Landis, and he never tested positive either, yet he now clearly says that he was taking just about everything for basically his entire career (as did Armstrong). The whole sport is corrupt and a joke.

If you're a cyclist and you have not had transfusions or used PEDs then you don't take the sport seriously enough and that's a shame.

Not saying he's telling the truth, but you and the entire country of France have been trying to prove that for years and nobody's been able to prove it. Not sure how Landis' words constitute proof. That guy has zero credibility, he got caught first and then "came clean" years later.

Armstrong will never admit it unless he gets caught, which will not happen. They all only "come clean" once they are backed down in a corner (once they have absolutely no other options). Before that, they have too much to lose in terms of endorsement money, getting isolated from the whole environment you lived in for years, etc. It's basically like the mafia, except that I haven't heard of snitches having gotten killed yet, but in this environment, it would not be too surprising.

Yes he did, but as he is admitting now he had been doping for many years before that, just like Armstrong did. I should have said "had never tested positive either before the test that ended his career, despite the fact that he had admittedly been doping for many years".

Witch hunt? In light of Landis' revelations now, the comment above sounds even more brazen.

No doubt they are both dopers as well...just like Lance.

You need to re-read the thread

Not only did I call out Landis -- I searched out information on why cheating with testosterone would help him and posted it in the thread.

They all need to join Ben Johnson and do this commercial and all will be forgiven.

Yes...even though it was hard to believe for you (there were some other posts that went into the opposite direction, but anyway). Would you agree that it is likely that basically all of the top 50 or top 100 of the Tour de France in the past 10 years used doping?

So they were all on dope... doesn't that just level the playing field?

In a way yes, but perhaps some had access to better dope? It sucks to follow a sport where you don't know if you are applauding the better athlete or the better doctors.

Also, don't discount what it does to them - all that doping is not without consequences in some cases (not only to mention those who fell dead off their bike, but also those who could not cope after their careers, such as Pantani and others).

I wish there was a way to really make 100 % sure everyone is clean, but I know that is a pipe dream. I remember when Jan Ullrich first appeared on the stage and I thought he was clean and started following the Tour de France...but he is nothing but a big fat liar. Like Armstrong, he will never admit to it because it would cost him millions. So disappointing, the whole thing.

They didn't have test for EPO until recently and when they tested his blood retroactively, they did find he used EPO. The problem was that they didn't have his second sample so they couldn't do anything to him. Armstrong has been busted, he just keeps getting off on technicalities.

You can be barry bonds in a world for of McGuires and Sosas without drugs. Nobody is that big of a freak other than Shaq.
