Did you seriusly call JVG the worst coach and GM? He's not even a GM. Do you even watch Rockets basketball? JVG is a damn good coach, despite us not having made past the first round.

I certainly enjoyed it. Just bummed we didn't make it further, just a case of being at the "wrong place at the wrong time."

Basically, was the last game of what we already knew was a lottery season. The Nuggets had nothing to gain by winning and laughed their arses off while juwana yo mama filled up the scoreboard and pulled out a tough win for us  probably costing us a draft spot in the process. The lottery comes around and we miss Roy, who was the guy that we wanted, by one spot because Portland also screwed us and instead end up with Shane Battier, whom we got for Rudy Gay or the #8 pick depending on how you want to look at it.

to say the least, it was a bit frustrating. it seemed every year, i`d have extremely high expectations before the season. only to have it derailed by some freak incident.

i don`t think JVG was the right coach for this team.

Enjoyed the era more than the maddening iso ball era after Dream but there's no question the TMac/Yao era was an utter failure. It's been all hype and no results. Losing back to back series to the freakin Jazz, especially at home for a game seven, still disgusts me.

Last year's team without TMac and Yao was as entertaining a team as we've had in a long long time though. It was a fun season even though we missed the playoffs.

He was the right coach for Steve Francis, but his days were numbered after the T Mac trade.

For the sake of accuracy, I have to point out that Chuck Hayes joined the team in 05-06 and played in 40 games that year. He was a Rocket back when Morey was still working for the Celtics.

Why is he a "damn good coach"?

Cause he led a scrappy Knicks team to the Finals over a decade ago in a strike shortened season?

Cause he is a protege of Pat Riley?

Cause he was a major reason for us losing a 2-0 series lead and constantly losing in the first round?

Or maybe one just likes to watch boring ass 74-69 final scores every other game?

For me, looking back, the one confused me is that what hell is our medical staffs did?

you can say bad luck all you want, but that many injuries between Yao and Tmac is unbelieveable. Compare Suns's medical team, we sucks.

Second, we were too positive all most every season. Put too much stress on stars while Champion team need time. If we were smart enough to keep yao for games untill playoff. Thing may be different at some seasons.

What bothered me is how much McGrady regressed physically after the '05/'06 injuries. If y'all remember, he came back for part of the reason and was athletic as HELL during the all-star game (still was quick and finished like we knew he can).

In '06-'07 he looked the same physically but he lost a lot of his elevation and a few steps. You have to wonder what that rehab on his back did to him....

There were some fun points in this era like 13 in 35 and the 22 game winning streak but we never won a championship so overall it was letdown but there were some great points.

Personally, i did not enjoy it because the Yao/ T-mac duq was way too predictable. Either one or the other or both were going to be hurt a significant part of the season. Usually during the playoffs.

Great thread anyway, even i think the Y-M era was failed at least in achievements.Memories in my brain are always bursted by Deron Williams, clear cut by Roy,or maltreated by Nowitzki, or Duncan or Nash......
we never show ourselves as a eligible contender in west conference, and Y-T nerver show them were better then any other combinations.
However,Brooks and Scolar proved that they are!

EXACTLY! That was the last really exciting team IMO.

Since then, it's been all down hill with Yao and TMAC's annual injuries.

It was a good era while it lasted. We just have to appreciate the past and look forward for the future :)

I do not agree. Yao last played during the playoffs against the Lakers. He was playing good. He didn't play this year and how do you know his "top center days" seem over?
