I admire your honesty and am a huge fan of Yao, although I'm actually a fan of the Rockets, and Yao has been a Rocket throughout his NBA career, so the synergy is there. Just wanted to say that I hope you stick around. Yao is a pioneer, just the first great Chinese player in the league. So perhaps you should lurk and wait to see what happens in the future. Thanks for being here! :)-

YOF is typically a tag referred to someone who lives in a world of absolute denial and worship when it comes to Yao, which is usually not helpful to valid or even productive debates. Also, they tend to ask me really stupid questions like "Since you are Chinese, how could you NOT like Yao?" that leaves me scratching my head with the proverbial "WTF?!?" bubble floating over my head. There is nothing wrong with a Chinese Rockets fan or poster. It is simply the unfortunate fact that nearly all real YOF's were Chinese, that it became an unfair stigma.

To the OP, if you feel that the Rockets have nothing to offer beyond Yao, then I bid you farewell with good wishes. If you like the Rockets, then simply stay with the understanding that Yao has already graduated from the Rockets team to the next stage in his life. While we argue, troll, and flame at times, there is no difference between ardent Rockets fans. We all mean well in our own clumsy ways for our beloved team!

So they hurt your feelings ("disrespected you") and now you hate all of them? Poor baby does Hilter need a tissue?

I think that is called "stirring a hornet's nest" If you post a thread with a subject as dynamic as that, you should expect some over-reactive backlash and get your "flame-proof suit" ready. People are always 100000x more passionate on the Internet.

No, I am not saying they weren't douches, because they totally were. What I would also like to add is that Yao has played for a few years now. That is plenty of time for our scrappy, eternally overachieving yet underachieving team to grow on anyone who has watched them. If they would still prefer to stay as Rockets fans this time already, we should welcome them with open arms.

he's described it pretty well here.

saying negative things is open to interpretation.

For example and long time Rocket fan would compare Yao to a Rocket hero, Ralph Sampson, they found that a negative (without researching who Ralph Sampson is)

When Yao has a bad game and when Yao admits he had a bad game, anyone who dares mentions that was 'negative'

Basically they believed the organization started with Yao and forgot about those championships and banners hanging up in the arena

Also they did blame the other players just like those creatures called the TOFs

I hope, YaoTheMan, retires as a Rocket.........? Not to sound racist here but there's still Yi Jianlian and Sun Yue. To the OP--- hope you don't give up basketball entirely.

The Yao era was definitely UNIQUE- in it's own right. Dueces..

    Awesome post, OP.

Maybe you should at least stick around until Yao's future male children are old enough to play. :)
