Retired cop guns down man for texting at Florida movie

You really shouldn't shoot people armed with only a cell phone and a handful of Orville Redenbacher. If the old guy was really mad he should have smacked the dude in the teeth and asked him to meet him outside. But why do that when you have a gun, right?

I actually feel very sorry for you poor bastards that have more of a problem with the guy's rudeness than the guy being shot dead. I really do. I hope you all never do anything rude in a moment of haste lest you be shot. I'm through with this board. Absolutely disgusting. And you all should know better- being Rockets' fans, you're supposed to be among the most intelligent of all sports fans.

 

I feel like crash has already posted about a dozen times that he doesn't condone the old man's actions and doesn't think the rude guy deserved to get shot. So maybe you are not getting the point?

The only points:
* dude did not deserve to die
* hard to feel sympathy for a jerk
* don't be a jerk to maximize life expectancy in US America

Is any of that debatable?

EDIT: I think some of us are extra-unsympathetic to the younger man because we see disrespect of elderly people all the time and it makes us incredibly sad for our culture. I was raised to *really* give old people the biggest possible break and ultimate respect. I think there's merit in that teaching.

 

People are jerks and when they're not being jerks they're overreacting to those that are.

And By the way, the old man will be sent to jail because what he did was wrong, but it will not bring back a husband / father. That is the point that you are just too thick to get. The old man is going to jail. What he did was wrong. Why are you continuing to pound that point when that is not the point I have been making? I think you just want to argue. Don't be a total jack ass to people when they ask you to stop and don't pick on a 71 year old man just because you think you can easily whip his ass, because he might have a gun.

And if you place yourself in harms way or bully someone just because you think you can get away with it, don't expect a lot of sympathy from me if you get your ass shot.
