And if Bell's votes went to either Streyhan or Kinky, we would have been rid or Rick Perry too.

Wow, I know the guy he was running against was a popular mayor, but Hayworth seemed like a big gun in the House. I remember him blustering about on the House floor on C-Span for a decade almost...

    Wow...

    Really? You think?

Michael Steele is a buffoon. His entire platform was, "I don't do whatever George W. Bush tells me." As if everybody forgot he was Bush's boy. He had a future when Bush used him as a token two years ago. His "future" was tonight and it's over. He spent the entire campaign SPRINTING away from Bush and the GOP. My God, he had "Steele DEMOCRAT" bumperstickers printed up!!!

Michael Steele was bad for Maryland and he'll be bad for America if he's ever elected to national office. I'm REALLY enjoying his defeat this evening.

And they just announced Webb has taken the lead in Virginia. Racism is on the run in VA!!

Fun link to play around (more fun than CNN because it's all on one page and gives actual district counts) with on the Virginia votes:

    http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/nov2006/l_02.htm

I've been playing around with this, assuming that each city/county was split into evenly-sized districts that all voted the same way, and found that when Allen was listed as about a 5000-vote lead, Webb would win (barring a recount) by a few hundred votes. Of course, Webb's taken the lead now, so I can't look psychic anymore. But that's OK. :D

I remember a few on here predicting Perry winning with fewer than 30% of the vote. I have to admit I believed it would be closer than it was, also.

Perry was a weak candidate and the only reason he won is because the Democrats nominated Chris Bell, a weaker candidate.

The one good thing we can take from all of this is that we no longer have to hear the phrases "shake Austin up" or "tough grandma."

The remaining votes to be counted are in Democratic areas. Webb is going to take the seat. Be happy, Karnak! ;)

It's stupid there is not run-off. Now we have a governor that 60% of Texas does not want.

strayhorn and kinky are more conservative..so more than likely perry would have won by a larger margin.
