so has anyone had trouble with attacks from muslims on the way to work? i had a man with a thick moustache staring at me while i was driving to work. he had the look of allah in his eyes. be strong my friends they know they have won. make sure you bring holy water and a cross with you to work so you can fend them off.
I have been reading up briefly on what a horrific character Burns is - monumentally corrupt, and apparently a history of racism - it's embarrassing to me that he is even in the contest still. I really hope he goes.
Tester 194,914 49% Burns 193,179 48% with 99% of precincts reporting. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/pages/results/senate/ Tester's margin appears to be holding. I wonder when the networks are going to call this one. They probably should also call Virginia, since without a recount Allen has lost (99.8% of precincts reporting).
We May Not Know Who Controls The Senate Until Next Month With a recount looking likely in the race between Dem Jim Webb and GOP Senator George Allen, it looks as if we may not know who won the Virginia Senate race -- and possibly which party controls the Senate -- until next month. This morning's New York Times reports: Webb is leading Allen by around one-third of a percentage point with 99.75% precincts reporting, meaning it's all but certain that Allen will be entitled to a recount. See you next month. http://electioncentral.tpmcafe.com/...know_who_controls_the_senate_until_next_month
If I understand what they said on the news, Tester's lead is just enough that Montana law would not allow a recount. Is that right?
From what I understand, it wouldn't allow an automatic recount paid for by the state. But the margin is close enough that Burns could call for one if he wants to pay for it
Not really. I survived the Clinton years so I figure I'll get through this. It'll be a treat watching you libs take credit for the good and blame Bush for the bad over the next few years.
So there will probably be a recount. Can other help pay for it as well? If so, then I am sure there will be one.
Excellent!!! Openly gay candidates win elections in record numbers Openly gay candidates won elections in record numbers, as the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund celebrated its "unprecedented success" in a press release obtained by RAW STORY. "Sixty-seven Victory-endorsed candidates were elected to federal, state and local offices, with some winning historic races that make them the first openly gay or lesbian candidates ever elected in their states or legislative bodies," the political action committee declared. Chuck Wolfe, CEO for the Victory Fund, called it "the tipping point election for openly gay candidates." "We're proving that qualified, well-prepared candidates matched with committed donors means gays and lesbians can move from having a stake in policy to actually making policy," Wolfe said in the press release. "There's no reason to sit on the sidelines with our fingers crossed anymore." http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Openly_gay_candidates_win_in_record_1108.html
See? That's the irony. If Foley would have been open and out of the closet, he probably wouldn't have been in the mess he is. Well except for that stalking underage pages thing.
What a glorious morning. The sun is shining. It's going to be a lovely 88 degrees (in November ). The House is firmly Democratic once again. The Senate is on its way when Tester and Webb claim victory. I know people were looking for change but there is no way I could have seen it coming in such a resounding way. The only negative of the night was Rick Perry. I thought he'd win, but I was hoping it would have been with a smaller percentage. I thought Kinky would do better and Strayhorn worse. One on one...Perry loses in a landslide to Bell or Strayhorn. Oh well...can't win them all.
