RM95: A couple weeks ago I went to an Italian restaurant that BLEW away all the other Italian food I've ever tasted. Surprisingly, it's near the Katy Mills Wal-Mart in a strip center. I wasn't expecting much, but it was incredible. Beautiful upscale ambiance, and the food was so good I couldn't believe it. I didn't read this whole thread, so I hope I'm not giving a repeat recommendation, but this restaurant is one of the best-kept secrets in Katy. Antonia's Restaurant: Cucina Italiana
There's a great place called Ambassador off Richmond just inside the loop http://www.b4-u-eat.com/houston/restaurants/reviews/rsv0234.asp Or you could always go to Yao's at Westheimer and the Beltway...
My roommate and I were wondering about that place. I'll have to check it out. Tex, Thanks for the recommendation. We liked the place a lot...quaint and pretty good food for the price. The best part though was the fortune cookie. I've been talking with this girl for a while, but could never seem to get her to agree to go out with me. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we finally went and had drinks. We completely hit it off. She's funny, smart, beautiful, great job and is a huge sports fan. We text and call each other the entire time I'm out of town in Arizona and California. One night in California, my sister and I order Chinese food and my fortune says "your persistence will soon pay off". I laughed and shared with the gal because we had a joke that persistence was my middle name since I kept hounding her to get a drink with me. Pretty hilarious fortune based on the timing and the fact that we were getting along so well. So last night, we grab our fortune cookies and she says, "wouldn't it be funny if you got the same one again?" I open mine and it's some generic fortune that I can't remember. She opens hers and reads "your persistence will soon pay off". Yeah, we went and bought lottery tickets using the numbers on the fortune right after we left the restaurant.
Oh man, you will thank me if you are a Thai fan. It's on Richmond near Greenbriar. http://www.b4-u-eat.com/houston/restaurants/reviews/rsv1155.asp
Damn..........it's been a long time since I've been to Ambassador.........great place. I love Yao and all, but his restaurant sucks ass...........at least it did the one time I went there; once was enough.
I live right near there. Cafe Taipei is okay, but Tan's Hunan on Dairy Ashford is the best Chinese place in the area, bar none.
You know, Mo Mong's is pretty damn good food, although I'd categorize it as Eastern Asian, rather than simply Chinese. Can't believe I forgot about that place. It's right in my backyard. Then again, I almost always order in when I'm in the mood for chinese. BTW, has anyone ever been to Ming's cafe on Montrose near Westheimer? I've never been, mainly because it's take-out or dine-in only. But I've heard it is supposed to be pretty good.
I agree with you Max. I don't think Tan's is good at all. I've been there a handful over times and never thought much of it.
If y'all want good Thai food...check out Nidda Thai on Westheimer at Commonwealth. Same shopping center as Erotic Cabaret. It has quickly become my favorite Thai place in Houston. Food and service are excellent. Then you can go shopping next door after you are done!
