This was 10 years ago, when I was married. I suggested a good place to go, and he suggested that and Rainbow Lodge. We chose Rainbow Lodge, and I still recommend that place, although I haven't been to that location yet. Funny aside about that guy. Before he was a broker, he was a talent scout along with Pat Riley with the Rockets.
Olive Garden - it's awesome and you can even save a few dollars by ordering just one entree plus the unlimited salad and breadsticks. As long as you don't let on how much you like her, call the shots, act like wherever you are is the place to be, find out what your date wants ahead of time and then order for her, and put on side 1 of Led Zeppelin IV when you make out, you're bound to score.
I don't know when that would have been (late 70's?) but if he had anything to do with bringing World B. Free to the Rockets, then I take back my statement about his culinary choices.
The Olive Garden kicks ass! When quoting Fast Times At Ridgemont High it is obligatory to post this pic:
If you want romantic, good food, west side of town, and are willing to do something other than Italian, I'd definitely recommend: http://76.30.202.2/lemistral/
OK, she's in the mood for Chinese. Any good places in the Galleria area or down Westheimer not named P.F. Changs?
I know some cool hole in the wall places in Chinatown, but they aren't exactly "romantic". Let me know.
Cafe Panda Garden. Fountainview just south of San Felipe. You're welcome. http://www.b4-u-eat.com/houston/restaurants/reviews/rsv2686.asp
Erawan on sage and san felipe for some awesome thai (next door to randalls)... not sure of chinese though.
I used to like this place, but it has gone downhill the past few times I've been. SWTSig - Erawan is ok for Thai, but if you're in that area you might as well drive an extra 5 minutes and go to the best thai restaurant in town - Thai Gourmet. RM95 - I work right by the galleria, and unfortunately there just aren't any really great Chinese places over there. Ambassador and Fu's Garden are decent, but not great. One of my favorite spots is actually on the west side - Cafe Taipei. Totally awesome. http://www.b4-u-eat.com/houston/restaurants/reviews/rsv2296.asp
Cafe Taipei is good...but actually the one just down the street on Eldridge (closer to Memorial Dr.) called Five Spices is better, I think. Me and a co-worker are addicted to it!
I think "itto" indicates the diminutive, so "little crap." Appetizing! Unless "crap" in Italian means "tab" or "bill."
I've never even seen this place, I'll have to check it out this weekend. Anything in particular you would recommend? Thanks!
I go there at lunch, usually. I judge Chinese food restaurants first and foremost by the soup...particularly by the hot & sour soup...there's is very good. Kung Po chicken is good General Tso's chicken is good. It's in that strip center where the Subway is...right by Citgo's headquarters.
RM95 - I don't believe its been mentioned in this thread - but I'm going to throw out "Arturo's" in Uptown Park in the Galleria area. It is a FANTASTIC Italian restaurant - and I'm even endorsing them after my boys and I were treated poorly for being dressed in shorts and polos for dinner on a Friday night about a year ago... Food...was...amazing
