You are very welcome, sir. The shuttle makes especially great sense on a rainy day like today. You will love the food at Ninfa's on Navigation, I guarantee it. Enjoy!
I know you can at Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium. I once was eating a pizza outside Shea Stadium. and the usher called over and said why don't I just bring the pizza inside the stadium and eat it in there. At Yankee Stadium, I brought in a pretzel, and drinks before that I started eating outside the stadium and walked in with it. What's cool about Yankee Stadium is they have "no alcohol" sections for families and whoever else wants to sit there. Basically they don't serve alcohol in those sections so you don't have to deal with New York rowdies.
FWIW- Downtown- interesting places - Sambuca (bottom of Rice Lofts- Main @ Texas? between Main and Travis)-good atmosphere-food pretty good - very good pork chops I was very disappointed the last time we ate at Vic and Anthony's-but have had very good food there previously Cyclone Anayas in Mid town is very good
Bah! Foiled by a superior idea. Even I didn't know about the shuttle, although I know that Irma's does the same service if someone wants italian instead of mexican. You still got my #, right? Give me a call later if you're up for this eve.
Are you serious? The way people in reviews complained of the prices I thought it was 60 min. without tip.
Thanks for asking man ... well, semi-disappointing report, but not about the restaurant. Called my buddy early afternoon and his wife and told them about the plans - Ninfa's, take the shuttle, etc. They laughed because guess where they had just gone to lunch? Yep ... Ninfa's. Granted it was the Express one (?) in the Galleria, which is nowhere near the experience I'm sure, but that was disappointing to hear. They felt bad, but the more we talked, they thought they may not be quite hungry enough to go to a nice place before the game (since we would have been eating at 4pm). We had a blast at the game, but my wife and I were excited to try that place. But, this will likely happen again very soon and that Ninfa's is tops on the list. We're also trying to set up a time to go to Fogo de Chao relatively soon. Thanks again for the advice and suggestions ... I'm sure I'll be referencing this thread multiple times over the summer.
I'll pick up the tab, but you know what I want in return. Seriously though, Fogo de Chao is awesome. Prepare wisely.
Awww, crap! Oh well....yes Ninfa's on Navigation is the shizz, blows all other "Ninfas" away since if I remember correctly the Navigation one is the only one still owned by the Laurenzo family. Definitely check out the others on the list, and check out www.b4-u-eat.com to gauge other peoples' experience at a restaurant you are wanting to try. Enjoy!
In the future, I'd recommend Amazon Grill. It's on Kirby (5114 Kirby Drive Ph: 713.522.5888) and Westchase (Westchase Location: 9600 Westheimer Ph: 713.933.0980). The place is INCREDIBLY good; I highly recommend it. And depending on where you're coming from, it might be on the way.
I haven't seen mention of Lopez. Lopez rules. And as for other places still owned by their original owners, check out Pico de Gallo on HWY 6 and Williams Trace in Sugar Land. The reason we've seen so many Lupe's Tortilla restaurants springing up is because they sold it. Pico de Gallo was started again by Lupe, so it's all the same old good food.
LORD, I had no idea Ninfas had a shuttle to 'Stros games! So theoretically, you could go to Ninfas, get hammered on those 'ritas, get shuttled to the game (not pay for parking), only buy 1 or 2 of those MMP beers (4th most expensive beer in MLB), get shuttled back to Ninfas and, by that time, be sober enough to drive home? When is the next home game?
That's what I do 90% of the time I go to Astros games. I cannot stand the concessions at MMP. Some of the worst I've ever seen, with outrageous prices. So I get stuffed and blottoed at Ninfas instead.
