I've not seen a critic unload on anything quite like this. If only our very own Fatty Fat b*stard possessed the wit displayed in the review to write a treatise on beans in chili.

Feel free to post other snarky reviews.

He really ripped into Guy. Sounds to me like the critic wanted to blast Guy even before he got there. Maybe it was really bad, or maybe the critic envys Guy's success.

Either way, I'd still try it out.

I didn't think the review was that bad

But it is a restaurant in Times Square, so why would anyone expect anything but garbage?

ME! I don't care if it's "UnTexan", I like it that way.

critic thinks Guy is a douche, jumps on chance to do a review at his restaurant, goes in with preconceived notions and writes an obviously pre-thought out manifesto on chain/tourist area eateries and in turn becomes a douchbag.

It's double the douchbag for the price of one.

For what it's worth, it's not like Pete Wells is the only reviewer who thinks Guy's restaurant sucks.

    NYObserver:

    NYPost:

I doubt Guy's target demographic is too worried about what the critics are going to say anyway.

And this isn't even the meanest review that I've read about that place.

Guy was on O&A this morning. Really don't know why they send a NY Time critic to a tourist trap. I'm sure the food is not that bad but compared to a fine dining establishment I'm sure it's incomparable.

I'm all for some crappy comfort food, but reading about deep fried lasagna noodles as "nachos" seriously makes me want to throw up.

People who didn't grow up with a ton of money. I make chili without beans, but that's probably because I'm a big wuss who is easily led into believing that because I was born and bred in Texas, I'm supposed to do it that way. I've had plenty of chili with beans though and some that had beans and no meat, and you know what? When they were made well, they were damn good. I'm pretty sure that the concept of cooking meat with chili peppers or meat and beans with chili peppers......or just beans and chili peppers predates Texas by several centuries.

    yep, haters gonna hate.

dude is an easy target, and he knows it. master chefs, snooty critics, snob foodies, and the like will always - predictably - pile on fieri, rachael ray, and the like. it's all jealousy over them becoming famous and filthy rich in the food industry in any way other than churning out ferran adria-level cuisine.

    eff em all, guy.

Make that three, although I'm not from Texas so I can't be accused of being "untexan".
