I plan on giving out the majority of my $1000 as gifts.

I will be lucky to use $500 of it on myself.

    That's a good list.

I didn't realize that it's essentially a coupon. That's ok though. I'm sure I will save more than $80 over the lifetime of the $1000 value. Just gotta figure out how tobreak it out properly.

I'm sure you could save way more than $80. I'd be interested to see what the actual savings would be over the $1000 life span.

You save $920, just gotta spend lots of money in the process of doing so. :)

I bought a 2 dollar on for a restaurant in Austin. I'll try it this weekend. If it works I'll be getting more.

Where do you live? I live in Houston and this is the list that I got:

    http://www.restaurant.com/rdc_site2...&SRC=ZIP&zip=77004&SearchRadius=15&x=39&y=12&

    HOB
    Vargos
    Mia Bella
    Monarch (Hotel ZaZa)
    Ruggles
    Michelangelo's
    Mark's
    Armandos
    Baja's Seafood & Oyster Bar

I stopped looking at page 4 of 16. Plus one of the great things about Houston is trying all of the local restaurants.

Now DonnyMost, I'm still a little lost on one thing. The HOB offer says minimum purchase of $35, with 18% Gratuity added prior to discount. Then the site tries to sell me tickets of $25 and $50. Does that mean the HOB only takes $25 and $50 certificates, as in the most they will take is $50? For example, if my total is $60 can I give them $75 in certificates and not wind up paying anything?

Man, if you don't recognize ANY names on the list than you must not eat at anything other than fast food or chain restaurants.

    Tony's
    Mark's
    Michelangelo's
    Block 7
    Tomo
    House of Blues
    Ruggles
    Vargos
    Crescent City Beignets
    Cafe Benedicte
    Java Java
    11th Street Cafe
    Russo's Pizza
    Canyon Cafe
    Ninfa's (missouri city)

Never been to them or not interested I understand, but never heard of them? Ever? Really?

You can only use one. If you use a $25 coupon, you have to spend at least $35 + 18% gratuity + tax, then they subtract $25.

Yep. It's not as great as straight up gift cards, but it will still save you money. You go to Mark's a few times and bang, you saved a boatload. If you go to sports bars with your friends you could go in on this together and save a bunch as well.

I can't use a $50 or $75 one in that case, or are you saying the "you must spend" amount for those two would go up?

    Still saving either way....

Yes, the must spend amount goes up. If you click the radial button next to the $50 certificate you will see the amount go up (usually $100).

Still, it's basically $50 off your meal. At some of the expensive restaurants it's not problem hitting $100.

I have located the same coupons at no cost in my local circular, but have never actually used one. I would never overcome the embarrassment of presenting a coupon to a server at a decent restaurant.

I've worked in restaurants for years and people use coupons all the time. It's not a big deal.

Agreed. I still think it's a great deal though, assuming you ever go out to eat.
