Morey has now done his job with building a roster which is extremely competitive to GSW in terms of talent and depth MDA & the rest of the coaching staff now has to step up and do what their paid to do and start maximing this roster to: 1. Rest Paul, Harden etc a couple of games each during the remainder of the regular season 2. Rest Paul, Harden etc rest when they have a significant lead 3. Bring in well rested/fresh legs whenever someone needs rest or doesn't not play hard, smart, and efficient enough on offense and defense and that includes Harden & Cp3 3. Rest >>>>> Regular Season wins at this point 4. Rest ----> Rockets 2018 Champs Harden Paul Co Finals MVPS Before winning the 2014 Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard ranked 138th in minutes played during the regular season. Andre Iguodala spent the regular season coming off the bench before nabbing the 2015 Finals MVP. Before his brilliant 2016 Finals manifesto, LeBron James enjoyed 19 extra days off in the playoffs as a result of sweeping early-round opponents, while the Warriors labored through injuries and a grueling seven-game marathon against the OKC Thunder. Let's also not forget the Warriors decided to chase 73 wins that season instead of resting down the stretch. This is the whole point of resting during the regular season. Popovich has regularly sat his stars to both prevent injury and give his second unit plenty of opportunity to thrive and gain chemistry.
MDA is not known for resting his players. Hopefully the deep Rockets bench will change his mind. Though I doubt he will ever run anything other than a nine man rotation.
I'm also talking about sitting out players for whole games And taking out starters when they a significant lead that's the difference between Pops, Kerr, and Stevens VS MDA if MDA wants to be a championship coach he needs to act like one Rest players
I don't think they will rest anybody until they secure the highest seed possible (that includes HCA in case they made it to the finals).
The rest thing has gotten pretty silly now. Mike can definitely be short sighted when he goes with his 7 man rotations because of injuries but when we have a full healthy team, most players minutes have been low. I think overall we have managed rotations well, some players can't get a good rhythm going if their minutes are limited. We can't have that either. I'm fine with the minutes everybody plays in our nine man rotation.
Joe Johnson has been terrible this year. Awful on defense and no longer a creator. The idea that signing him means the rockets should win the title “or else” for Dantoni is preposterous
so it's on who? ryno being the 3rd highest paid player? we a 3pt shooting, driving team playing at a frantic almost ssol pace you want our players put another gear in the playoffs? do you run the to the ground or devise a rest strategy?
LOL he's not gonna win a title he can allow harden or cp3 to rest games in the regular season you agree with the importance of REST right? so it's on WHO? are you a fatigue denyer? LOL
that's the point develop chemistry of his 9th to 11th guys incase 2 or 3 gets injured or needs to rest are you a fatigue denyer??
I believe in rest but no I don’t believe they don’t win a title it’s because they didn’t rest enough. That’s a stupid take
LOL Pops, Kerr, Stevens, Lebron are stupid? so if we don't win a title its because this team is not talented enough? do we win with less 3ps made, taken, less 3p%, less drives? or with more 3ps made, taken, less 3p%, less drives?
How many teams actually develop their 9-11th men? The only two teams have been the Spurs and Warriors. The Heat didn't do it, Lakers didn't do it, the Cavs didn't do it. In general, teams don't do it. The only true pioneer has been Pop. GS just happened to have a lot of good luck in their first championship when they had a fully healthy team and they played a bunch of injured teams. Last year, they had KD which just made it unfair. I think rest is overrated to the extent that you guys want guys only playing 30 minutes or less. We have a great quality team this year and hopefully Mike will consider it, but I won't be losing sleep if we are only playing our 9 guys, especially if minutes will be spread the way they have been this season. Hardens workload has been somewhat reduced by having Chris here and Chris won't be as tired since Harden is taking the burden from him.
Boston, TO, teams who are actually as deep as warriors and spurs and coaches are at par with pops and kerr warriors 2 time champs spurs wcf last year so we are as talented and as deep as spurs and warriors but our coach is so stubborn to follow pops and kerrs lead
You are making a weird argument. I agree with you that they need to rest. I believe that is helpful. However, the rockets fully rested aren’t the favorites over the warriors. Therefore if we don’t win the Title it isn’t right to say it’s because of rest. It’s impossible to say why without seeing how it happened, but it could absolutely be that we aren’t as good as the warriors. Joe Johnson doesn’t make us better than the warriors fully rested
