I was trying to think of the nest comedy movies to revisit I was trying to break down the sub genres of Comedy Stoner Comedies Ethnic Comedies Satire Comedies Parodies Just doing a little research on Comedies Rocket River
Don't forget the one that was already labeled... Romantic Comedies What category would Caddy Shack fall into? What about Vacation? What about Tommy Boy? What about Big Lebowski? What about Sixteen Candles/Ferris Bueller/Pretty in Pink. Maybe those would be a coming of age comedy category. I'm not sure of the category for a lot of those.
Work for me I see some Political comedies "Distinguished Gentlemen" Classic - Trading Places (Fish out of Water Comedy as well) Stoner = Alot of Seth Rogan/James Franco *grin* Frat ?Boy/ Sophmoric Comedy = Adan Sandler I think Still has more range and variety Rocket River
'10' Young Frankenstein Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Nothing But trouble The Birdcage Life of Brian Comedy is about taste and style more than just about anything else, and by that I mean each individual person will have his/her own taste in comedies, and particular styles which are preferred. Some people may really love movies like Caddyshack or Dazed & Confused. Caddyshack is ok, but I can think of a half-dozen Murray or Chase movies I like better, and stoner comedies usually don't do anything for me - Pineapple Express being a notable exception. Some people love spoofs, which present the material as serious, but the situations are ridiculous: Tropic Thunder, Spinal Tap, Best in Show.. Some movies just embrace the silliness, like Blazing Saddles or Holy Grail. Some are character-driven, meaning we watch them and laugh because the people IN them are funny, like Kevin hart movies these days, or Dudley Moore, Jerry Lewis, Steve Martin.. etc .. the list would be hundreds of pages. Some of them will stand the test of time, and some won't. Some already have. Wonderful topic!
Yeah, there can be subcategories, and varying categories for comedy... Overboard (original) Can't Buy Me Love Encino Man That's my Boy Love Actually Wedding Crashers All different but in the comedy genre...
