was that the first guy? I just tuned in again on the live feed. Just in time to see the capsule come up.
Indeed. To think that these guys survived 17 days underground before they even knew folks were trying to reach them. Unbelievable. A real testament to human determination.
I had heard that they were arguing because the last person out would hold the record for longest time underground.
That would make sense. Don't think that was particularly pointed out in the article I read... I took it more as a source of pride type of thing.
I think it is kind of inappropriate for this guy to already hold his long speech before everyone is out safe.
I don't often agree with you, but I'm in total agreement here. He should have waited until all miners and rescuers were safely above ground.
What an amazing story.... Surely there will be a movie about this. I wonder how they survived for 17 days BEFORE they knew people were trying to rescue them. Drinking their own urine?? That was probably easy in regards to what they went through. How do you keep your mind from going crazy is the real question. Also, that first rescuer who went down has SOME BALLS... If something went wrong and he gets stuck in that tube, it's over. That would probably be one of the worst ways to die. In the end, an all around amazing story.
I've been watching it with the Futbol game. I did shed a tear after they got the first one out. Born again.
It was amazing to see the first miner that was pulled out... second one is being pulled out right now.. 68 days.. no way I could last underground that long. Here's the vid: http://gizmodo.com/5662523/video-first-of-33-chilean-miners-has-been-rescued-successfully and there's a live stream of it also on cnn.com or here... <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="400" height="251" id="utv724466"><param name="flashvars" value="autoplay=false&brand=embed&cid=522594&locale=en_US"/><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"/><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"/><param name="movie" value="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/live/1/522594?v3=1"/><embed flashvars="autoplay=false&brand=embed&cid=522594&locale=en_US" width="400" height="251" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" id="utv724466" name="utv_n_351286" src="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/live/1/522594?v3=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" /></object>
Super Mario looks like he didn't just go more than two months almost a mile under the earth. Dude is inspirational!!
Jimmy Sanchez, one of the 33 Chilean miners who have been trapped for over two months (only 19 yrs old) in the San Jose copper-gold mine, would like to make one small correction to all the stories about life in the mine:“There are actually 34 of us,” he wrote in a letter sent up from the mine on Tuesday, "because God has never left us down here."
The 2nd miner was pumped up! Wish I could stay up all night but I gotta sleep. DVR is set for the rest of the miners.
