Oh well, I just got rid of my "Axiom" compilation album produced by Nick Cooper. Do you have that? Have you asked Nick? That album has Sprawl and fleshmop, no? It has these two that I'd like to see on your jukebox: Toho Ehio Cinco Dudes I am also still in touch with the guitarists for Cinco Dudes and each of them might have that compilation, if not other music.
BJ, Justin C is a friend of mine at KTRU. He's the Local Band Show dj. He emailed me back this:

-KTRU has the Axiom comp as well as the Houston Loud comp. -I have a couple Sprawl albums, as does KTRU. -The only Fleshmop that I have or know of is "Feeble Minds" from the _Texas_Funk_ comp, which I have. -I *might* have some Elevator Up, but I'm not certain. I'll look around. -I have a couple Carolyn Wonderland albums: _Play_With_Matches_ and _Bursting_With_Flavor_. I also have a live at KTRU recording. -There might still be a Woody's Jukebox cassette at KTRU, though I'm skeptical. But I do have a recording of a live Woody's performance at KTRU. And I have over an hour of songs that I recorded for Jerm for an album he never released, one of which is "Euclid." -KTRU has Joint Chiefs' _Fat_&_Busy_" and I also have a live recording of them at the station. I have or have access to a lot more stuff: Dry Nod, Mike Gunn, Toho Ehio, Sons of Dada, Sasquatch, Pain Teens, Sugar Shack, Keenlies, de Schmog, Peglegasus, that sort of thing. So just let me know what you need. Justin

Why don't you (or I) go meet him at his Local Band show this Tuesday and see if he'll let us check them out or burn CD's from a turntable there. He might also have these already on DAT or something.
cagey: Will email you back in a minute. Thanks for the help. HP: Awesome. I don't know why I didn't think of Justin. Guess I'm just a little dumb that way. Can you email me his email? I used to have it and don't anymore. Toho Ehio and Cinco Dudes were cool. I used to work with the singer from Toho. And one of my favorite shows ever was the Axiom KISS tribute where Cinco Dudes sang I Wanna Rock And Roll All Night in Spanish. But we're really just going with bands whose members have appeared in IBP shows, as it's our tenth anniversary show. Oddly enough Lee Brown's proclaiming May 8, 2003 "Infernal Bridegroom Productions Day." Tell your boss. Maybe he'll let you off work.
btw: does this mean I get to make a playlist request for your jukebox. The Toho Ehio song on the Axiom Comp is great... Rueben was the best guitarist in town, imo, except for Chuck on the Cinco Dude...but I'm biased because Chuck was my roommate in a house 1 block from Rudyards. Man, those were the days. Anyhow, if Chuck still has a lot of recordings (he lives in Brooklyn now), there is one song in particular that I insist you put in the Axiom jukebox. hehe
God, I wish we had the edit function....3rd post in a row. anyway, you can borrow or burn King Of Parking if you want. "Its a showdown at the 59 diner!!!!"....
Holy crap! I used to go see Sprawl at Fitz's all the time back in the day! What happened to them? I remember some guy always spazzing out on stage during their shows. Maybe it was a hallucination - quite possible back then...
HP: Just wondering. Do you smile every time you call me BJ? I do. I would email you, but believe it or not, I can't find your address. You can email me at jnodler@infernalbridegroom.com. Think you may have me wrong here. We're not actually creating an Axiom jukebox, although that would be a great idea and one I'll pitch to my people. If it happens, absolutely you can put some Toho Ehio and other stuff on there. I'd love it if we played nothing but local stuff at the Axiom. Right now thoughwe're just creating a CD of covers to play AS THOUGH it was a jukebox in the Meatbar, which is the name of the bar where my play takes place. We're collecting the tracks so the IBP band can learn them and record new versions, which will feature special guests (including Jay from Fleshmop/JCs, Greg Wood from Horseshoe/Tab Jones, Brad from Keenlies, Carolyn W, Matt from Sprawl/middlefinger, etc.) singing each other's songs (but not their own). The CD will play during the play, like a jukebox in the bar, and we'll also sell it at Sound Exchange, Cactus, The Axiom and online. You will get a freebie for your help. mateo: I'd love to get a copy of King of Parking. Email me if you can to set it up. Zwee and the Graveberries are still around aren't they? Under the name Zwee? Or is that someone else. My friend John Edward plays with them I think. I never saw BBS (funny that would be the abbreviation). They played most gigs at the Satellite I think and I didn't like that place. Also didn't care for their name. Chucky Brown Fan Club, however, would be an excellent band name. As would the one Killian and Brad threw around before taking my suggestion and calling their band The Oilers. I was happy about it til I found out they'd almost called it Dry Nodler.
You came to the right place for a Sprawl update. Here goes: Matt Kelly (singer) is married and teaching high school English in Austin. Also fronts the excellent band middlefinger, who play Houston every few months. Do NOT miss them. He's also starting a new band with his wife Marianthe, who's singing. Nick Cooper (drums) is the leader of Free Radicals and spends his free time championing various liberal causes via the usual activist routes. Dan (original guitar player) is married and living in California. Joey Salinas (next guitar) played with Matt's old band Rugrash for a while and then had some health problems which resulted in near paralysis of one of his arms. He now fronts the local hard core band Marfreless and plays one handed guitar hammer style with his bad arm duct taped to his back. Jeff Nunnalee (bass) is married with three kids and working in real estate. Keeps threatening to start a new project but work and family keep getting in the way. His very cool wife Pam runs The Way We Wore on Waugh. Clay Embry (sax) lives in Austin with his awesome wife Sonja, works a good computer job and plays with one of the coolest bands in Texas - Brown Whornet. The Reverend Dave Dove (trombone) runs a very cool non-profit dedicated to avant jazz stuff and other innovative new music called The Pauline Olivares Foundation. They bring very cool national acts to places like DiverseWorks, MECCA and the Axiom. Bo Morris (tuba) drinks at Rudz almost nightly. I know cause that's when I see him. Don't think he's playing right now, but I could easily be wrong about that. Conversations I have at Rudz are hazy at best for inexplicable reasons.
My wife would be happy to hook anyone up with about 400 Banana Blender Surprise CD's if they're interested. She'd probably throw in some Rockets Media Guides too, and probably my Paul McCartney solo albums. And that fax machine I don't know what to do with. Luckily, she does not read this board. Nice how I am having it out with mateo in the vegetarian thread and he's pulling out RC and Moonpies in this one. Sorry, bro. Speaking of local music, it must be said that like it or not/ love it or not, Trish and Darin ran the overground scene in Houston for a few years there. de Schmog reminds me of the Kim Stoilos (public news) and Brad Tyer (press) era local music writing. Vintage. Brad Tyer wrote a really funny review of Zwee and the Graveberries once, something along the lines of "if I played music, it would sound like this, which is why I don't play." He was the best music editor ever. I'd like to put on a play like that with the Party on the Plaza set: Mary Cutrufello // Jesse Dayton // Miss Freaking Molly // Hadden Sayers and so forth. Now that'd be a drag out I am getting ugly nostalgic right now. Batman -- I think Banana Blender is playing in July at the Continental, you can be my guest if you like. CBFC
HP, Love Twitch once played in the KTRU studio. I wonder if they made a copy of it? For some reason or another, we never did get that performance on tape. (Maybe we sucked real bad or something.) BJ, I bet we have met. Were you around when we did the Schoolhouse Rock tribute? That was one of the best shows we ever did. At least that's how I remember it!
Brad Tyler was High School friends with pasox2's wife. And he was in my college when I was OC. Boy, did he have a chip on his shoulder. I got along better Jeff and Matt from Sprawl. For awhile there, we actually had Sid Rich allowing Cinco Dudes to use their basement for practice sessions. man, OK, i'm getting all nostalgic, too. so, I also have a great song by Jonathan Falk. man, he was doing some MC 900 FT Jesus stuff on his own, imo. I also saw him live with his Jazz band and Rudy T was there to see him. still, Dry Nodler rox.
CBFC: I'd love to be your guest at the Continental Club. The Houston one, right? It'd be good to meet you too. I think we both worked at Sidewalk, but at different times. Maybe you just freelanced. SpaceCity: You kiddin me, man? I booked that Schoolhouse Rock show. It was a b**** to coordinate all those bands and songs, but it was one of the best shows ever. I think Carolyn still plays Interjection if you ask her nice. Also, second the nomination on Brad Tyer as best music editor ever. His column was hilarious. I remember the time he had to change his home phone after making fun of Pink Floyd, on account of all the freaky Floyd fans calling him at all hours ("Do you hear my wife? You made her cry! If I ever get a hold of you..."). Ah, the bad old days... And, yes, Dry Nodler rocks.
Now a bit further back : does anyone else remember these days?: the judys the big boys the explosives the haskells ak 47 the fast the volumatix the dicks mydolls I also remember a billion ska/skank bands but remember no band names .... a bit later fab motion cinco dudes lung overcoat mulberry jane the snakes sons of dada the schwa sound the chamberlains what else ? who else remembers pre-Toby bartending?
I served the Judy's ice cream at Baskin Robbins when I was thirteen. And I used to really like the Schwa Sound. I remember one drunken night at Epstein's Bar trying to convince them they should paint themselves silver. They really should have. And Fab Motion, sure. I remember Toby all the way back to working at the River Oaks Theater.
