    Yes.

Because the discussion you jumped into had nothing to do with being stuck in a 1860 mindset today. The discussion was about what the rationale specifically was in the 1860's and what the people of the 1860's intended by the 14th Amendment. So for that discussion, the 1860's mindset is completely relevant. This is not complicated stuff. Especially when I broke it down completely for you.

You should probably just give up. He's either too dense to understand, or he's doing it on purpose at this point.

i've made that landing- scary as hell. the take-off is not much more fun. and a couple times a year, a plane clips the roof of a car on the way in.

Neither would I. My parents were immigrants as well.

Actually, i change my mind, birth should no longer guarantee citizenship.

    For everyone.

You should have to earn citizenship by serving in the armed forces or should you make a contribution to the country. Some kind of service of value that is in the American national interest.

If not, then by the age of 18, you should be deported to the country that you most match. If you are mixed race, they should take a guess at the two cultures you look like, draw a line on a map between their capitals, and find the mid-point...then drop you off there.

With an inflatable raft and a weeks worth of rations in case it's over water.

Then both of you got lucky. However, that doesn't mean that this loophole doesn't need to be closed.

Reminds me a bit of a smaller-scale version of the airstrip at St. Maarten.

I would avoid that road, if at all possible.

So you are basically saying that neither of us deserve to be Americans. We just got lucky.

I don't know what Hong Kong is like now, but landing there used to be hair raising! (when I had hair!)

I remember landing at the old Hong Kong airport Kai Tak. You could practically look into the apartment buildings as you were coming in.

I think one of your parents should at least be in the country legally, for the child to be a citizen.

I think this has to do with China, offering to pay their citizens to come to America, have their baby and fly back to China. China is thinking ahead, what better way to invade America then from the inside out?

Agreed 100%. One of the parents needs to be a legal u.s. citizen.

Seriously? You can't state something like that and not post a credible link.

Did you think making it bold and underlined would make it more believable?
