If the only thing you can disagree with is a typo, then I feel pretty good about my post.

I think it's a cop out to call it xenophobic. The fact is we have a right to protect our borders, our sovereignty, and the principles that we believe in with respect to the rule of law. We have the right not to allow foreign companies help their citizens violate our laws and our territory.

If you were a baby you wouldn't be concerned with your citizenship. Don't be absurd.

That's an oxymoron. Illegal immigrants by their very existence are committing a crime. Illegals bring about document and benefits fraud. What's potentially most dangerous, someone stealing your iPod out of your car or someone falsifying a passport to get in and out of the country without being caught? What are the national security ramifications of a stolen iPod?

I support both. Illegal immigration and globalization both hurt wages in this country.

So let's see how many Americans we can put out of work because we allow undocumented people from countries that don't have our standard of living to stream across the borders illegally and take less pay for the same work. Is that how you want to pay for your house? When does that trend stop? When do you stop putting that American house laborer out of business and start putting that American middle manager out of business? Where does it stop? This is the race to the bottom that you're longing for so you can buy more cheap crap? This is Wal-Mart logic.

I don't support the law in Arizona, it's racial profiling in my opinion. I have no problem however with people being asked for documentation if they've been stopped for an offense. Being an illegal immigrant shouldn't give you a pass on following the laws we all must abide by.

As I understand it, illegals who work earn half of what the average American earns and most of them are uninsured as well. So I have trouble with you selling me on poverty wage earners and all those taxes they pay. This also doesn't account for illegals that earn straight cash wages, they pay no income taxes at all.

I still don't see what this has to do with anything. Citizenship isn't granted on a contribution basis.

I'm not advocating taking away people's citizenship, only making it so that future citizens have to be born to at least one American citizen to be born a citizen.

I already addressed the crime issue. You want to blame the law for people breaking the law. That's neat.

Not really, I think you're acting like a cry baby. I realize that conservatives have brought up this issue to rally their angry white base. Typical conservative tactics at election time. That doesn't mean it's not an important issue however. I support immigration but I support our right to have safe borders and to document the people who are in our country and not have them get free health care when I do not and not have them divert school funding for programs to support them that would otherwise be used for the children that are already here legally. You want to open your front door and let people in without even knowing who they are because you think they're all well intentioned and gee wiz they're just trying to make a living and there are no negative consequences to them sneaking into your house anonymously in the middle of the night. You want to pretend illegal immigration is all gum drops and lolly pops and yet there are serious problems with the current situation and they should be addressed.

The terrible illegal Euro phenomenon. Do you know why Texas, Arizona, and California are home to the vast majority of illegal immigrants? It's not because they're all connected to Mexico, it's because all of those illegal Euros are flying in to overstay their visas and they coincidentally like the weather in those states.

Actually Texas + California + Arizona don't even house 50% of illegal immigrants!

There are more illegal immigrants in Illinois or New York than Arizona.

    So much for your theory.

But the populations of Illinois (13 M) and New York (20 M) are much greater than Arizona (6.5 M) and the aggregate population growth over the last decade is much heavier and burdensome on Arizona absolutely and proportionally:

    IL: +470,000
    NY: +500,000
    AZ: + 1,500,000

The question remains what portion of that growth is constituted by illegal immigrants, but where there's smoke there's fire.

Yawn. Do you not think that any of the concerns expressed are valid? Name-calling will not deter the discussion, but I guess it makes you feel superior, huh?

So you are saying the problem is that illegal immigrants are going into less populated areas????

I have yet to see the case be made as to why illegal immigrants is such a hot button issue over everything else this country is facing.

They are not increasing crime. That has been debunked.

It hasn't been shown that they are a mass drain on the system like people claim, in fact they pay into S.S. and taxes often times.

They don't take jobs away from white old men like the Tea Party fears, but actually compete with blacks.

And the number of illegal immigrants in the country has declined by 15% in the last few years. So whatever the problem is, it's actually declining!

So why is it all of a sudden such an important issue? Shouldn't you be worried about the national debt and the economy?

Well then why not just reduce it to one issue and really overwhelm the sucker?

Almost 50% of the illegal immigration takes place in the 3 states mentioned and Arizona would seem to be overwhelmingly impacted with higher numbers proportional to its overall population. As I said, where there's smoke there's fire.

No I do not think any of the concerns are valid. All I see is the GOP once again using a divisive issue to corral the sheep before an election.

    Congratulations

Uh, they house 43% of illegal immigrants. California and Texas are 1st and 2nd in illegal alien population while Arizona is 6th. 57% of illegal immigrants are from Mexico and a whopping 6% are from Europe and Canada. Thank you Fail Lou.

Got to have something to rile up the white working class to vote against their own interests. Gays are not as threatening. Trickle down/supply side economics has been discredited. With all the sex scandals the GOP is not seen as so Godly. Got to try something.

Cometswin and the rest wil fall for it as usual.
