Last time I checked there was not "factual basis" for this claim. After reviewing the audio and video nobody can seem to find proof of the claim. Just another left wing propoganda move to redirect attention form the true problem...
What claim are you talking about? There is video of the Barney Frank incident. There is also proof in the form testimony and eyewitness accounts of the racial slurs as well. Or would you rather just accuse a civil rights hero like congressman Lewis of lying when you have no proof that he did, and contrary to the eyewitness accounts that back up his story.
There are just as many (more) eyewitness accounts that refute those claims. One thing that's hard to swallow is a how a media that has been so overwhelmingly hostile to the Tea Party movement could fail to actually document these incidents. They've been chomping at the bit for something like this yet all they have is testimony?
Yes, it is odd how that managed to fly under the radar what with all the wall-to-wall cable network coverage and cell phone cameras that were to prevalent the 1960s.
Yeah all they have is testimony: http://images.google.com/images?um=...f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&start=0&social=false
Ah I stand corrected. Those signs are clear evidence that this particular incident really happened. Also might as well lock 'em up for this guy too. Better safe than sorry!
Really? Could you please show me some of the accounts that say they watched the black congressmen walk buy and were present the whole time and didn't hear a single person shout N****r? Is there a reason we should believe those people more than say civil rights hero John Lewis? We also know that the tea bagger who spit on Cleaver was arrested but Cleaver didn't press charges. So someone would spit on Cleaver, but there's no way they called him and Lewis the N word?
You stand corrected because you are being an idiot. The media hasn't been "chomping at the bit for something like this" - this kind of sh-t has been part and parcel of the tea party movement since day 1 and has been open and obvious for anybody to see . I mean for god's sake, the whole thing is an offshoot of assclown Glenn Beck, who began his assessment of the obama presidency with a paranoid defense of white pride, straight out of the aryan nations. The tea party faithful, whose response has a strong strain of as "hey you communist n-gger muslim fascist go back to africa" -does not simply possess the response of somebody whose sole agenda is related to a disagreement with respect to the information asymmetry paradox of health care economics, or the role of fiscal policy in an aggregate demand stimulus. SImply because you chose to be deliberately ignorant of this is irrelevant. There's no video of tea partiers throwing bricks through people's windows, phoning in death threats to congressman, or taunting Parkinson's syndrome ...err, wait never mind on that one....so I guess in your universe they don't exist. Unfortunately the rest of us live in a universe where they do. .
Looks like it was more of a say-it-don't-spray it situation http://www.riehlworldview.com/carni...ms-to-confirm-no-spitting-on-congressman.html
I'm not sure how the video really shows that. I admit the video could go either way. It isn't necessarily conclusive of the motive or intent, but the fact that the police saw fit to arrest the guy and Lewis felt the intent does lend credence.
These videos don't support the reports of a glorified Klan meeting. Perhaps Maureen Dowd's ear is needed to pick out all the unspoken slurs? http://hotairpundit.blogspot.com/2010/03/2-more-videos-surface-of-john-lewis.html
No dude. You need to go to every internet forum you can find and police them by saying that there was no spitting, just spray from the mouth of an angry dude. I'll time you.
By the way, 45 years ago today, John Lewis suffered a cracked skull. He was just trying to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge... In spite of the common image of Republicans being tough guys, there are very few that have experienced anything like John Lewis has been through. I don't think a Tea party mob is going to intimidate him, even at his current age.
