He's not denigrating people who "don't share his beliefs" - that's why people like Refman don't get denigrated. There's another reason for it...
That's an odd question. Why do you often portray yourself as intentionally obtuse in these types of threads?
I'm not sure it is intentional. It is called a defense mechanism in psychology. In these recent threads it has been very evident as moderates try to resist acknowledging what the GOP has been doing.
Glynch, that is really off base. I'm doing exactly what "minorities" do when criticized, i.e., as when anyone challenges Obama's policies. However, that said, I do not mind rhad, or you, or BJ, or anybody else attacking my logic, rationale or belief system. I do not call individuals idiots, or goofs or fools or any other disparaging name. I require the same courtesy.
I'm Hispanic, Baptist, male and urban -- so, as usual, you're half right. I never inquire about race or religion from tea party advocates. However, according to my precinct data and email addresses, I can assure you there is a sizable if not a majority of advocates who are women and from urban areas. Since most are literate and have dated experiences to relate, I would say the bulk is older than 35. Again, you are only half right.
How so? There has been ample evidence provided for you in a number of threads that the tea party movement is overwhelmingly connected to the republican party. You have provided no alternative evidence outside of your own conviction. Either you have a poor grasp of vocabulary or you're simply choosing to "take your ball and go home".
I've always tried to be honest and courteous in my replies and observations, but, if this is not up to your standards, then what can I say?
At least they got the slangs right. I mean, it would just be weird to call Frank a "******" and Lewis a "f*****." There's got to be some minimum standards in this country.
The lack of willingness among BBS repubs to self-police is noted Ergo, external policing will be applied by third parties. With extreme force.
My friend had me cracking up at Starbucks the other day. "Call it the Tea Party all you want, but I know the Klan when I see it."
it bothers me most that these republican politicians seem to be making all sorts of excuses for these people. it's kind of horrifying. oh, it's the democrats' fault, because if they weren't acting so totalitarian-y and communist-y, they wouldn't have driven these poor tea party people so crazy that n***** and f***** just FLEW out of their mouths! give me a break.
How does a couple of Republicans who were probably invited to attend a Tea Party function constitute a formal connection. You don't require a lot of firm evidence, so you?
As ugly as it is, there is a HUGE difference between a lone guy shouting an epithet from the safety and security of a jeering crowd and a radical Muslim who flies a plan full of innocent passengers into a tall building or another radical Muslim who hides a bomb in his backpack and waltzes into a crowded marketplace. And you want me to get real? Of course that story was ridiculous; it was a mockery of the attempt to slander the Republicans because of an isolated incident of cowardly bigotry.
Nobody was trying to slander Republicans. It was a request to police their own. If the Republicans felt defensive about their connection to the tea party, that is their own issue. The tea party had racists there, the tea party had Republican speakers come out and address them in speeches, and with signs. The connection has been made. A request for Republicans to police their own isn't the same as slandering all Republicans.
