I remember telling my brother and dad that I shouldn't have to pay federal income taxes, which they thought was ridiculous. They told me because I could afford cable that I could afford taxes. I was like you understand me paying $0 federal income taxes would be like a $4K increase in the effective taxes because I got EITC & Additional Child Tax Credits.

That was back when I made $30k for my family of 4. Scary thing is, we made $125k last year, and I have still yet to have a year in which my federal income tax liability has exceeded my refundable tax credits. Thank you Donald Trump for cutting my taxes to zero despite me making 6 figures! Republicans are an enjoyable bunch.

Every Republican should be forced to take a side or answer questions about Rick Scott's Republican platform, just the way every Democrat had to take a side/answer questions about the Green New Deal. Every Republican should be asked if they support higher taxes on (insert appropriate percentage here) of Americans. Every Republican should be asked if they support the various other culture war garbage like banning books, outing gay kids (see the recent Florida bill) or arming school teachers.

And similarly, every time Heidi Heitkamp or James Carville starts whining that wishy-washy moderates are losing because of progressives, they should be asked why they spend so much time repeating Republican talking points about Democrats and not any time on what the Democratic party is actually proposing (or what the Republicans plan to do).

They don't care that their policies are self inflicting wounds that deepen every time their party actually passes a bill. It's all about the culture, and grievance that is well worth the pains they will face.

Case in point: My parents (Trump supporters) a few years ago lost their health insurance, and were not yet able to qualify for Medicare. Every single time a person tried to tell them that they qualified for ACA coverage, they refused to even think about doing it because it was "Obamacare". They were fully willing, and did go without health insurance in their late 50's and early 60's because they hate Obama THAT much.

I even made the case that they do it for me even because had they had to go to the hospital without insurance they'd ultimately need help from family like myself potentially, and it's not fair to me and my siblings. Still nothing.... they wouldn't do it.

The deep resentment, grievance, and anger towards liberalism, or Democrats is so existential to the MAGA right that they'll take a hit on policy that hurts them if they feel like it furthers getting revenge for a lifestyle they feel like they lost because of liberalism.

Yeah the GOP is going to find it difficult to marry their talking points of we are the party of smaller government and lower taxes and half the country pays no taxes and needs to.

I don't understand why anyone who makes less than 100,000 a year would ever vote Republican. I also don't understand why anyone who pays over $300 a month for healthcare would vote Republican. I don't understand why anyone who believes we need more programs and medical facilities for the mentally ill would vote Republican. I don't understand how anyone who can't afford prescription drugs would vote Republican I don't understand how anyone who has a member of their family who is gay or lesbian could vote Republican.

I don't understand why anyone who believes in Democracy would vote Republican after they tried so hard to steal the votes and oust the elected President. I don't understand why any Veteran would vote Republican with all the proposed bills to help them that have been blocked the past few years by the GOP.

I don't understand why anyone who claims to be Christian would vote Republican, when they don't care about the poor, those who can't afford to get medical help, and those who just want fair and equal rights as human beings.

When you look at the whole picture, there's so much important stuff they don't care about. I just don't see how you can not care about all that and think for a split second you are making America better. It's the opposite in my eyes.

On a side note, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't be for free college education for all when murderers, sex traffickers, child molesters, and drug dealers can get free college in prison.

Ooh, and don't get me started on gun violence, and school shootings.
