So essentially you are suggesting that we either go with a draft or a smaller combat operations? Doesn't make sense to me.

i agree, i'm pretty tired of the moronic attacks from these useless guys, clearly dropping down to their level doesn't acheive anything.

This is my favorite pitch the pro-war GOP has made to date. Winning or losing is a choice now. LMFAO. The problem with the left (in other words, 70% of the country) is that they "choose" to lose. It's got nothing to do with all the f*ckups of the Bush "strategy." It's just that 70% of the country "prefers" defeat. That is just funny as hell.

We should if we want to treat our troops like what we did in the Vietnam era. Unfortunately, our decider has decided to screw our voluntary troops.

Wow. That's a pretty staggering difference. If you put it into a historical context, with the GOP out-raising the Democratic Party for so many years, the money flowing to Democratic candidates and the Democratic Party shows clearer than anything else the sea-change that is occurring in American politics. I've said several times here, as have others, in one fashion or another, that American politics goes in a cycle, from one party to the other, from conservative to progressive. America has always had a liberal bent, if you ask me. After all, our country was founded by some wildly liberal revolutionaries, for their time. The worm has turned.

They way to respect the troops is to give them the best protection, and to treat them well when they do come back. I'm all for giving them more pay, and rewarding them for their sacrafices.

But what can you do? If your house is under seige, do you say to the people defending it, "Hey guys, you've been here a while, why don't you go home for a rest for a year, and if I am still here, you can come back"?

I'm all for helping the troops and supporting them, but this isn't about that, it's a cheap trick by the left to pull out of the war. They are pretending to care for the troops as a way to make them selves seem like their are better than anyone who disagrees with them. I guess the left has learned a lot from Karl Rove and Dick Cheney, they are beginning to smell a lot a like. It's disingenious at best.

Not sure about that. We haven't had a liberal democrat in office since Jimmy Carter, while Bush and Reagan certainly can't be considered moderates (although Bush Jr was supposed to be a moderate).

I really think Bill Clinton would have gone down as one of the greatest presidents, perhaps even greater than Reagan has it not been for the whole Monica Lewinsky - he was a gifted moderate.

I think Hillary will win the presidency - she will carry the democrats strongly and more of the middle. However, I think Obama is the greater visionary, and I would wish he was on the ticket, as I prefer him over any other candidate.

I really didn't like his gaft about Pakistan, that was stupid. But I think he's the kind of person who doesn't make the same mistake twice, and there's a genuinous quality about him that's well, clintonesque. Just as Dean was a superior candidate then Kerry, so is Obama to Senator Clinton.

But I can't see myself backing Guiliani or any of the other republicans - I've been totally unimpressed. But 2009...it will be refreshing to be rid of the monkey in office. I think the whole country is looking forward to next year.
