Please don't try and equate the two. Democrats never cheered on a crowd that was violently lashing out at officers of congress as Republicans did this past weekend. While Bush was compared to Hitler it wasn't by scores of people at a single rally, who were also calling civil rights heroes n*****S. Nobody ever went in and tried to cut the gas lines to a Republican congressman's home with the possibility that it could ignite and blow the congressman and family up. There weren't nuts regularly calling Republican congressmen and leaving death threats on their answering machines. Please don't act like the two are equal. They aren't.
I'm just saying that Ref's post SEEMED to insinuate that today's governmental officials are lesser people then Ted Kennedy, and never brought up the fact that Senator Kennedy did many things on many occassions that reflect badly on him both as a person and as a politician. This besmirches everyone else in the government, most of whom I assume want to try to do good (in their own view) for both the people and the country. If that's not the case, than I apologize for jumping to conclusions. Politically speaking, I disagreed with Mr. Kennedy on almost everything, so I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree about him as a politician.
Well, here he's being caled a "Terrorist" and "Criminal" by a seemingly large group of people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJdYeJdRr-8 Also, look up Bradley Neal Crowder who wanted to firebomb cops, or Katyanne Marie Kibby who was so upset at the informant against Crowder that she threatened to kill said informant. Or better yet try this article: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1129748/black_republican_candidate_gets_burned.html They tried to BURN HIM ALIVE! Just to show that there are crazies everywhere, CNN published an article by Roland Martin on Feb. 11 advocating, "Obama’s critics keep blasting him for Chicago-style politics. So, fine. Channel your inner Al Capone and go gangsta against your foes. Let ‘em know that if they aren’t with you, they are against you, and will pay the price."
You lose all credibility when you try to portray Roland Martin as a violent radical. He clearly did not mean that Obama should have his political enemies murdered.
Again the difference being that nobody in the supposed mainstream tolerates guys like Crowder. They aren't invited to speak at the Democratic convention much less open the whole thing. Nobody in the tea party seems to care that their organization has a wing that is racist, homophobic, and possibly much worse. They aren't doing anything about it. In fact they are inviting Tancredo to come give a racist speech at their convention.
So basically FB your belief is that Republicans are all crazy racists, while Democrats are "the good guys" and have no radical elements at all. I've provided evidence to the contrary and have shown that there are political nutjobs of all political slants, but I can see that you're not going to let facts get in the way of your righteous certainty. I love how most Democrats seem so certain that they are always correct no matter what. I almost forgot why I hardly ever post in here. Debating with a brick wall isn't terribly interesting.
No. I've said that not even all Tea baggers are racist. I've also said that left leaning individuals have done crazy things. I never denied that political nut jobs are around. But they are more active in the tea party, than in the Democratic party. I wasn't saying no Democrats or leftist activists haven't done crazy and even destructive things. I will say that the way it's handled is very different. I can give two examples of numbers '4' and '3,000'. They are both numbers but they certainly aren't equal. So while both sides of the political spectrum have nutjobs it isn't equal.
Ultra conservative wackjob hints are Pelosi assassination, warns Of ‘A Thousand Little Waco’s’ VANDERBOEGH: May I tell you my personal motive for doing this? I’m trying to save the lives of Nancy Pelosi, and every one of these people who do not understand the unintended consequences of their actions. [...] Because they are not paying attention to the million of people across this deepening divide that politics no longer avails them. [...] We refuse to participate in the system, and we refuse to pay the fines, and we refuse arrest. Now where do you suppose that’s going but a thousand little Waco’s. http://thinkprogress.org/2010/03/25/violence-tea-party/
http://www.wkrn.com/global/story.asp?s=12208009 Yikes. Truly psycho to the point of endangering a 10 year-old.
This story really ruined my day. I'm serious. You can't unring a bell (or, ahem, a "clarion") and you have to wonder where all the manufactured anger and hysteria will lead. I mean, this was a bumper sticker.
