The "Impeach" thing is something I type every damn time. My fingers are killing me. Still, I guess I should take you off ignore. Clicking on "view post" is getting to be a pain. Impeach Bush, Cheney, and Trader_J!
Heck, that's it?? Wow! Lieberman must be feeling lonely, the S.O.B. Impeach Bush, Cheney, and LIEberman.
Here's some of the republicans who have supported or endorsed Obama's candidacy - i think the key level is how senior these guys are... former U.S. Rep. Jim Leach of Iowa Jim Whitaker, mayor of the Fairbanks North Star Borough in Alaska former senator Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island Sen. Chuck Hagel (spoken favorably but won't endorse) Douglas W. Kmiec (head of the Office of Legal Counsel (U.S. Assistant Attorney General) for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. former Bush White House intelligence adviser Rita E. Hauser Tom Bernstein went to Yale University with Bush and co-owned the Texas Rangers baseball team with him Matthew Dowd, Bush’s chief campaign strategist in 2004 Robert Kagan, a leading neoconservative and co-founder of the Project for the New American Century in the late 1990s Susan Eisenhower, granddaughter of the late president Dwight Eisenhower Colin Powell - former general / sec of state (currently advising Obama) what's really intriguing is that none are from Obama's home states and they are all prominent names. The same can not be said of the dems supporting McCain. The irony is that despite the Republicans attacks on Obama's foreign policy experience, most of the republcians switching over are most attracted to his more concillatory approach and disillusioned with McCain's cowboy hardline style.
I think some appeal New Yorker is that he is crossing towards the Republicans on some issues...My favorites were his FISA vote, and shooting down Wesley Clark's snipes at McCain, and his stated STRONG support of Israel (on his website)...In the face of the wrath of the base, he arrogantly and for all intentions states: what are your choice? John McCain?...Sheez... The appeal is he has this power, and he has used it get away from the back-slappers when he really didn't need to...I think he wanted to show he is capable of that. A very smart strategy...The rabid back-slappers here may not like it, but they drink the milk, feeling most of the ingredients are approved... Obama may be the next Truman, or the next Jimmy boy...We don't know.
It's only August 13th. There is still 2 1/2 months to go. If it's still like this on October 13th, then let's talk. The GOP has yet to start blasting Obama with their best shot.
are you serious? how many bullets do you think they have. It's pretty hard to go lower here or bring out anything more base.
Sam, you're forgetting the pictures floating around showing Obama throwing gang signs and drinking a 40, while getting a bj from Faith Hill. That is definitely going to put McCain over the top.
Given that Republicans picked a moderate candidate expressly for the reason to avoid this kind of defection - it's more very bad news, that's why Jorge believes there's only a 5% chance of a McCain victory. They should have just nominated another religious crazy.
I am very serious. It could be miscasting Michelle Obama's words on being proud of America, regurgitating Jeremiah Wright or race-baiting (how blatant TBD). There is much more to come, especially if Obama stays even or keeps his lead. The GOP will get as nasty as necessary and will draw blood. Regardless of who wins on November 4th, at some point before then, the polls will show McCain pulling ahead.
Much more of the same to come? So how will this change anything? it hasn't worked the first 3 times, what makes you think the 4th time will be the charm? If they're regurgitaing the same old same old it sort of undercuts your point about how we haven't seen the full arsenal yet.
Just an opinion. Once the Olympics are over and both conventions are finished, you will see what I mean (I think). I mention those two issues because that's what came to mind. The Republican mud machine is creative enough to come up with new ideas.
The Republican mud machine is just as vacuous as the rest of the party - it hasn't had a new idea in about 25 years. Much like the Reagan era has run its course and come to a close after the idea of less government turned out not to be an idea once you got there, the concept of saying "so and so is un-american!" only has so many permutations.
The notion of actually voting for a craptastic novice like Snobama is just beyond the risk threshold that most voters hold. Seriously, four years ago this guy was part timing it in the Illinois STATE Senate. He's a former street activist/community organizer (whatever that is), and after that, he was a lecturer at a university and a bureaucrat. Tell me how he is qualified to lead? Americans just won't risk their future on such an unknown. Check out this video -- he sounds like a 6th grader reading a book report (about a book that he's not very familiar with) without his teleprompter. Notice how he sounds like he's never pronounced Ossetia before. Talk about in over his head. McCain ran laps around him on the Georgia issue. Heck, Hillary hurt him badly on the 3:00am ad. It's sad when you lose a commander-in-chief face-off against a former First Lady. He's just in over his head in a big way.
