https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/05/us/politics/wisconsin-governor-legal-challenge.html North Carolina, Wisconsin, Michigan... I can't even... Republican values are just getting worse and worse. Who knows, maybe they'll even get away with it - but I just cannot believe Republicans and their supporters are getting so low. It's a short-sighted battle where the party, the individuals who support it, and the true values that made America are going to suffer.
Posts about Republicans.... Conveniently ignores Broward County. Hate to tell you this, but democratic sytems have been sidestepped by all sides during all times in this fine Republic of ours.
Republicans are haters. They hate media, truth, science, regulations, laws, poor people, immigrants, non-white people, peace, green energy, health care, education, unification, globalism, humanity and democracy, ....almost everything that is positive.
No.. we see Putin on horseback. There’s nothing demonic about the Republican Party. It’s what the world has seen in phony democracies for centuries and very human. Then there is the electorate more than happy to live under mob or authoritarian rule. Just some people cannot handle the idea of a truly democratic society and see the world as a zero sum game of I win, you lose. It makes people like you actually more comfortable with a system you feel has some gamesmanship behind making your life a little better than other peoples. Again... nothing demonic about it. This is very common in human history with our societies and governing systems. It’s true Democracy that has been fairly rare over time.
Yeah, pretty much. Get yours while you can and focus on more fruitful endeavors. Like complaining on CFs. You can't change the reality of the human condition. People are bastards who serve themselves. Not that I am saying they are good people or just by any means. I am just saying look at all leaders and hold all of them accountable to the same standard at the very least.
Well, I am happy that we don't live in a pure democracy. A true democracy is technically mob rule... which can be rash and uninformed. Yes I sound elitist from that first sentence, but I do recognize the people should weild some power and in the U.S. they weild enough. There is a reason we were set up as a republic and not a democracy like we are commonly labeled. We have our democratic elements and have more of a mixed model for our system of checks and balances which is pretty awesome. I love that half the country always feels like it is losing. When two sides are both feeling that way, it means there is a balance. A good deal they say, leaves both sides a little unhappy. So this is a larger scale of this principle. Every decade or so there is usually a shift. Our nation has a pretty awesome governmental structure for that reason. I wouldn't worry so much about the Republicans or Democrats, as they are both corporations that feed off of each others' ineffectiveness and greed. How long have you followed politics? Do you not see the similarities between both major parties? And the underlying factions in each that actually shows us both have way more in common, to our detriment actually. Do explain how we live under authoritarian or mob rule? I would say compared to the rest of the world, we have it way better.
Democracy isn’t a value, I think. It’s a form of self government. Republicans aren’t about that anymore. I mean, they are, but only if it’s self government of only Republican. We the Republican people of the United States...
And the dems who rigged a primary... or want to win by basically flooding the country with a group uneducated enough to support them. Real democractic values.
Primaries are somewhat a form of self government by and for one "party" (and sometime that is the "subparty" in power). So you got that going, but don't pretend it's for everyone. If and when they apply that to everyone, you got a point. Democratic values, is it a value(?), doesn't care if someone is educated or uneducated. If you only want "educated", it's not democracy. I think you might call it's elitism.
It's always been about policing of your own, but these days, pointing out the excesses of the other side seems to be how they respond, which is just nonsense. It's like watching someone argue over whether fascism or socialism was worse, as if being the 2nd or 3rd worst ideology of all time is a win. It's pretty terrible, escalating insanity that turning everything hyper partisan. I have no idea how to stop it, i have no idea if it can even be stopped, as the signs are just so similar to the collapse of every great empire. They view the other side in their own country so cynically that they resort to this, which means they think something like their own version of this hate america, freedom, success, i'm sure i could put together a bullet point thing which reminds me of this And if both sides are really seeing each other this way now, isn't what the future holds obvious? .
Sure, the uneducated vote democrat. Keep telling yourself that. Edit: http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tan...cent-elections/ft_16-09-14_educationaldivide/ #fakenews
realist. not elitist... pragmatism is for adults who are comfortable with making choices based on reality and not BS emotional crap.
Also you need educated people for a democracy to work... fact is we do not let 6 year olds for a reason. Same reason low iq countries never have functioning democracies. Play dumb about this if you want but people from central america are usually of a low education and unskilled. They are also fleeing a failed state apparently. Moreover, it is sad that dems want to flood migrants in because enough real Americans do not buy their crap.
You need a civics lesson kid. Education is not what makes democracy work, it's efficacy in democracy that makes it work. Do the voters need to be educated on the issues? For sure, but that isn't a function of schooling. That level of education requires other changes that your republican brothers wouldn't like. Changing ballots as to not show party affiliations, allowing more mail in voting so voters can research the issues on their own time and vote with ballots in hand, community outreach resources to help voters understand the issues, and more town halls with leaders to ascertain the effects. If you want a more informed populous, as you so state, stop voting for idiots like Trump who seek to limit access to information in so many ways. Live up to your own standards and stop comparing yourself to democrats (and playing the game of, 'hey we're are just as bad as they are').
We don't let 6 year olds vote because they aren't considered adults, don't really pay taxes, and have an advocate make decisions for them. It isn't purely education. What you're advocating is dangerously close to eugenics. It's scary that in this day and age people still believe this crap. Edit: Also what you seem to lack an understanding of is what it actually takes to become a citizen. I was born in this country so citizenship was just handed to me. My dad and my mom were not. Taking a citizenship test requires an understanding of the system that A LOT of natural born Americans don't have. Late night talk show hosts have routinely stumped ordinary Americans on just naming the three branches of the federal government. Foreigners who naturalize have to know these things or they don't get citizenship. Democrats aren't trying to make the tests easier or bypassing them, rather they are trying to offer refuge in trying times and let them eventually naturalize the way other foreigners do to.
whatever you want to call it, excluding some people based on some criteria such as "educated" isn't a form of self government for all, but for selected groups
