Checked out the big protest march today. The march fell way short of the 50,000 that was anticipated and ended up with about 10,000. It was overall very peaceful even with the anarchist groups there and generally the marchers conducted themselves peacefully even to the police and the counter protestors. I even noticed some marchers offering water and cookies to the police in riot gear and to the counter-protestors. The march route was unusual with marchers taking about a mile long route from the State Capital to the Excel Center and then doing a U turn and heading back on the other side of the street so at part of the route you had marchers both going to the Excel Center. Close to the Excel Center marchers were routed into a narrow caged corridor that one protestor dubbed the "Free Speech Prison."

The only problems that happened during the march were a few splinter groups that split off from the march and smashed some windows on a police squad car and also shattered a display window at Macy's. Out of the roughly 10,000 marchers there were only 13 arrests.

The real trouble started later today when the delegates came to the convention. Some protestors tried to block the buses of the delegates and the police used mace and horses to clear them out of the roads. Also some brawls broke out between some of the protestors and counter protestors so by 6PM the arrests had swelled up 221.

I've got a lot of pics and will posts some of them soon.

So, so, so counterproductive, if what they want is a defeat of the GOP. If they want to fire up the GOP and lose another heartbreakingly close election, they are doing just the right thing. Idiots.

From listening to the Anarchist I don't think they care about the Democrats and don't see much difference between Democrats and Republicans. During the march I tried to stick close to the Anarchists since I figured if trouble broke out I might be able to help with first aid or even with trying to hold down a confrontation that would get a lot of people hurt. Listening to them many of them were clearly there to f*(k sh^t up as a few of them put it rather than engage in peaceful protests.

Completely agree. As I said in my post in the thread concerning Palin's teenage daughter being pregnant I don't understand this compulsion on the Democrats side to repeat the same self destructive mistakes that undermined the 2004 presidential elections that was gift wrapped to your party.

It just seems unfathomable to me that the same poking, prodding, and agitating that mobilized the biggest Republican turnout that defeated the biggest Democratic turnout in the history of this country has begun once again for an election that is gift wrapped for you once again.

I mean you basically avoided doing all this in 2006 and remained virtually quite and destroyed the republicans in the elections and now Dems have reverted completely back to the ways that cost you the 2004 presidency.

Im not even as "liberal" as you might think...I wasn't even going to vote for Obama at first, okay...it was a very short period of time. I even considered Ron Paul. I would have much rather preferred to see Romney or Hucklebee running against the Dems to have some real debates about the economy or policy.

But your maverick McCain is a freaking joke. A war hero that blew up his aircraft carrier, got shot down, and gave up national secrets under torture...while honorable service..lives off of it for decades trying to get sympathy and acting like it qualifies him to be president or shields him from any other scrutiny.

You can compare my posts all you like to Trader I am a nobody Jorge's, but you can't change the content to match your rhetoric. Sorry pal, go home and continue to smoke your "reffers".

    Riiiiiiiiiight.

And yet, you call him "crap."

It's not like I am alone in making that comparison. Seriously, if one person tells you that you are drunk, it may just be them. If several people are telling you that you are drunk, do yourself a favor...hand them the car keys and sleep on the sofa.

Listen, jerk, I have NEVER used drugs. My nick comes from 6 years I spent as a referee for softball and football. For you to try to turn it into a drug reference is just offensive.

I certainly hope this is not how you teach your children to act.

Wow...touchy touchy...are we having a "my pink high heels broke" moment or what? Would you like some roses?

Btw, how hard was it to get the trunk of a stomach moving as a referee to keep up with the real athletes? Just curious  that's all.

You are seriously an embarrassment, rocketanalyist.

Refman, I personally apologize to you on behalf of Democrats everywhere.

Dude, you really need to get a grip. Do you have a Napolean complex or something thinking that you speak for all democrats? How tall are you by the way? 5'3" or shorter?

Why would you do that when you have yourself to be embarrassed of?

Do you ever watch the show COPS? I don't really, but I'm kind of fascinated by one bit of trivia surrounding the way the show operates.

Did you know that each and every one of those drunken, wife beating criminals who goes on a 1/2 hour rant, tries to flee, and gets beaten down acting like a fool has to sign a release form before they can appear on the show? They all actually sign a form that allows the producers to put their malfeasant behavior on TV. If they wanted to put their self-destructive and stupid behavior behind them, they could suppress it by simply saying, "nope" and not signing the release.

The fact is if you are stupid enough to drink 2 liters of store brand vodka and then beat up your wife, you probably don't realize that you should be embarrassed that you just did it. That is why all the drunken wife beaters sign the release. They think being on TV will vindicate them when in fact they are just there for everybody to either feel sorry for, or laugh at. Each of those fools thinks they should be proud of what they did to get arrested.

I would guess that if you had enough sense to be ashamed of your stupidity in posting over the last couple of days, you would have had enough sense to not do it in the first place. I'm guessing you are going to follow this up with another ‘I know you are but what am I’ childish tantrum in my direction. That's fine. Go ahead. You are just solidifying your place on this BBS as the drunken wife beater on COPS, and you have nobody but yourself to blame. And apparently, you don’t really care.

OK...I get it now. You are just another one of those guys that gets pushed around in life, so you talk tough on a BBS because of the anonymity. Pathetic.

It isn't like 250 lbs is exactly a lot to lug around when you are 6'5". Thanks for your concern.

    I really appreciate it.

No need though. I think everybody realizes that rocketsanalyist is just a jerk banging on a keyboard because he feels superior when he feels like he is needling somebody.

Thou shall not take the lord's name in vain, yet people defend a party that uses god for their own purpo$e? He who follows the teachings of christ, knows to love his or her neighbor, not just the one living in sugarland but also the one that is starving in bolivia.
Those who follow the teachings of christ would not train terrorists in fort benning, who then go on to massacre CATHOLICS. Men who funded these terrorists are the same men who will speak during the following days. They also had a hand in writing Iraq policy. From dumbsfeld to mccain, they will all mention god and democracy and how they've made the world a safer place. It's all a lie.

In this picture, in 1989, jesuits were the recipients of the right's universal love. The world is upside down.=(

The time to restore the spirit of the greatest revolution in history, a revolution that many have unsuccessfully attempted to duplicate, has finally arrived. All men are created equal and not all men are created equal, some are just more equal than others.

PS: jerks calling others jerks is very entertaining.
