Palin speech pulls in $8 million — for Obama

From CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser

    (CNN)
    – Barack Obama's campaign says it has raised more than $8 million from over 130,000 donors following Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin's speech Wednesday night.

The campaign also says it is on track to raise $10 million before John McCain takes the podium at the Republican National Convention tonight.

    ----------

Palin is just that gift that keeps on giving. I guess that speech of hers scared many Americans. ;)

still a lot of red meat, and no substance so far.

they're all ganging up on obama, but no real meat for the american pubic. unfortunate.

Lindsey Graham and Ridge were great. Graham had a great quote when he said that the Democrats wanted to lose the war and were 2 votes away from getting their wish. Thank you, Joe Lieberman, for preventing the Democrats from losing this war. Thank you.

even o'reilly admitted there shouldn't have been a war in the first place. the republicans put us up to this war. let me be clear, there's no winning in this iraq war EVER. i think everyone understands that.

If they do it'll be heavily scripted and rehearsed. Or else this could happen on national tv:
    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/l6Nt5ADY7ug&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/l6Nt5ADY7ug&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Of course they'd use a different word for Obama, I think Lynn Westmoreland already said it recently when he called the Obamas "uppity."

I don't see any fur, so I think your observation is wildly invalid. Cindy McCain, even at her age, would be, by far, the best looking First Lady ever, Jackie included.

    You are clueless. Truly clueless.

To ignore what is at stake in Iraq is the height of naivete. Pulling out and losing the war would devastate the region and devastate the United States. At this point, it doesn't matter how we got there --- we are there. Now it's how to manage it from here on. McCain was the visionary behind the surge. Obama was the blind man who thought our troops would fail. McCain was right. Obama was dead wrong. Obama wanted to forfeit. He wanted to lose. He wanted our troops to come home ashamed and defeated. McCain was the leader who took us to victory. That's leadership. Obama's behavior was cowardice.

It was the 3 carat diamond earrings that accounted for most of the cost, estimated at $280,000 of the $300,000. The dress was worth about what most of those expensive designer dresses are worth.

To quote a great BBS poet.

The gall it must take to say something like that during an election cycle. Hello? Are we really that dumb we want to elect someone to make the same mistakes as before? Oh, and, by the way, "it doesn't matter how we got there" qualifies as an admission of error. Thanks for finally owning up.

i think you are clueless. if you go back a few yrs back, obama was for putting MORE troops to reduce the violence, maybe not as big as the surge. but he believed all along that more troops will reduce the violence. the reason he was for the surge overall is that he wanted the iraqis to take responsibility FINALLY, which they still haven't and we don't know when they will. hell, they might not 10 years from now. AND MCCAIN IS WILLING TO WAIT.

i didn't say we should pull out NOW nor is obama. again, i admit mccain was right on the surge in terms of reducing violence, obama and biden were not. however, obama was right OVERALL about the war; mccain is NOT. and obama wants to put an end to this and pull the troops back as "best as possible." mccain said he's willing to fight and stay there 100 YEARS IF HE HAD TO. that's not leadership; that's stubborness and stupidity.

but leadership was not to put your country in that position in the first place. when you run the most powerful nation in the world, you don't get to make a MAJOR mistake and try to fix it.

imagine the state of this nation if this war never happened.

The segments of the video that focused on his war experiences were no doubt stirring...but the rest of that video was so incredibly cheesy.

Two things I'm sick of...using his POW experience as a qualification for President and the tagline "Country First." Because obviously only the Republican party cares about the country. They care so much they've done everything but talk about the issues that are facing Americans today.

Did you see the sign a guy on top was showing: McCain Votes Against Vets. McCain's people were hurrying up the row to get to the guy.
