She said "Thanks, but no thanks."

Translation: At first I was willing, but upon further investigation I said no.

Real bullcrap. At least when she changes her mind, she admits it.

This is something I will never be able to comprehend. I mean, seriously, how can that be a legitimate burn?

I can't understand how a few posters say Palin "did her job" or gave a speech that "played her role." You do understand that this woman is running for Vice President right and all the roles and duties that come with it)? You do understand that this is the person to succeed McCain as President in the event that he is unable to lead?

This woman will be one of the most important leaders of our country. Stop right there and answer how this speech showed that we have a Vice President and a leader. Stop defending a speech that had about 1% substance and 99% psychological rhetoric.

I'd like to inform my fellow colleagues that The_Conquistador has not reported a post in months. That's a fact.

That really surprised me. I'm not surprised that she can do well in public speaking, but there was 0 % policy in that speech. Cheap, snide shots at Obama, stories of McCain being a POW, stories about her family... economic policy? foreign policy? Buhler? It was just shockingly empty, a pep rally really. I didn't learn anything about her (which I wanted to do), and I didn't hear anything about her stands on issues (beyond drilling). That was disappointing. But yes, it's more clear now why they put her on the stump -- she'll connect with people at an irrational, Bush-like, folksy level. Personally, I don't like the wide-eyed, set jaw crazy look into the camera, but I'm sure that's a personal "elitist" bias of mine.

Let me say something very positive: Kristine Todd Whitman (sp?). She gave an amazing radio interview early in the evening, and I felt myself melting toward certain parts of the Republican cause. She's at the convention, with the sole motivation of getting centrist republicans elected at local and state levels. Brilliant.

She freely admits that the party has "lost its way," and she wants to get back to the roots of Teddy Roosevelt and Lincoln, when it comes to the environment, the role of government. She was awesome, and to me, that's the kind of voice that could lead to a strong conservative majority in the nation. And she is the only Republican I've heard speak for over three minutes without focusing on Obama.

Yeah, pretty much. Giuliani is arrogant and disrespectful too.

You need to educate yourself... read and compare timeline for instance.

    Good grief!

And "Vietnam" is a country. You capitalize those things.

Sizzler, that's just an outright falsehood. Did you hear the parts about fiscal policy (taxes) and energy policy? Those were major parts of the speech.

The problem is she was supposed to answer the questions everyone had about her in the given time slot. Maybe she did that on purpose, or maybe not, my view is that it was a mismanaged speech (that to me speaks volumes about her). She wasted too much time on her family to show Hilary supports she’s like them.....I mean that’s a good strategy, though I don’t think it was the right one at this point in the game. She should have focused on more important things like the economy and her views on foreign policy, to show that she knows what to do if she became prez....

And what exactly did she say about taxes other than they would be cut? What did she say about the energy policy other than to drill baby drill?

Jerking off McCain and talking about her family were the major parts of the speech.

Riiiiiiiight......you do realize that Obama chose Joe Biden as his VP candidate?
I think I will take the hockey mom who can balance a budget and field dress a moose over the self righteous hypocrite any day of the week.

If hack one liners and mocking your opponent are what the country is looking for then Obama should have picked Eddie Murphy as VP. He'd win in a landslide.
