What are the odds a hurricane would be hitting New Orleans at the same time as the RNC?

It's like a script for the Dems which they will blow and lose the election again.

I would rather have the hurricane postponed til after the convention then McCain can go tour it as the official nominee. ;)

Nothing plays better to a Bush/McCain crowd than profiteering over the misfortune of others.

    Kudos to you Faos.

McCain should deliver the speech from New Orleans. That would be perfect! The sign of a real leader

I thought this post was a hilarious joke until I saw who wrote it. Sad that you think what you just said is true.

    I would agree. :)

But I can't wait to see how pitiful this republication convention is and watch them try to spin why it is as being because the hurricane and gain the sympathy of the country. I have to admit, they are the kings and queens of spin!

It amazes me how you consider the Obama speech of responding to the ATTACKS by the McCain campaign as mud slinging. Are you objective at all? If you consider answering the attacks and challenging someone to bring it own that attacked you, then what was it that the McCain campaign was doing all the months before by calling him a celebrity, elitist, out of touch, arrogant, unqualified, inexperienced, etc. etc. etc.?

Or do you just want a candidate that yours can walk on without getting walked back on?

Fact: Obama squandered a historic speech opportunity and turned it into a mud-slinging, business-as-usual dirty politics event.

I think McCain speaking from New Orleans would be a smart idea politically. The only danger would be is two-fold:

If it is a disaster - it might be seen as putting politics before country since he would be interfering with the diaster response by being there - a distraction so to speak.

If it is not a disaster - and turns out to be a false alarm of a storm, he will be a clear that he's playing a political game.

Either way, that's what he is doing, political theatre. We all know it. The question is, what will the average Joe think, that is, the average on-the-fence Joe and Jane?

LOL...man you are you OUT OF TOUCH!

Even the republicans were drinking Obama juice on Thursday night. They had their weakest statements possible to try to discredit that historic speech.

Some people like you just can't face truth and move on when it hits you. That will end up being one of the top three historic speeches of all time if he wins the election!

I mean, for goodness sakes, even Pat freaking Buchanan had to admit it was awesome! Don't be mad cause he kicked old McSames arse in that speech. McCain will have his opportunity to return the favor in just a couple of days.

As a Rockets fan, don't deny if you got your arse kicked in the first half, just admit what went wrong and try to come back in the second half with a better game plan to win the dame. Your analogy of his not having a great speech is like going into halftime down 60 to 32 and saying it's all those dirty refs fault, when you know you got outplayed and out hustled.

Excellent points. I personally think there better chance is to have a good convention in MN and just have everyone to remember and pray for whoever or wherever the storm hits. Anything else will eventually probably work against them. That is my "unbiased" opinion of how they compete.

But knowing where they stand after that historic convention last week, Im sure they don't have anything close planned to compete with it and probably see this as an opportunity to make changes on the run to try and swing it their way..by winging it so to speak; just like McCain just did with his VP pick.

Their main problem is that they have the same guy planning their convention that is like 100 years old and has been planning every republican convention since 1972; and Obama's campaign took the push and got the people who designed sets for Brittany Spears to produce the last day of the convention for them. Which do you think will be more appealing on tv?

Surely you jest. The speech had no content. It was a typical Obama speech - lacking content but full of rhetoric and broad generalities. He spent most of the speech slinging mud at McCain. Sad, really. Hardly historic. Obama squandered a great opportunity.

It was an almost 45 minutes speech where he accomplished EVERY SINGLE THING that everyone said he needed to accomplish. If you expected more details of any of his proposals for the country to come out than did, I would love to see what kind of details your main man McCain will make in what will surely be a pitiful speech that he gives as usual, written by others and not himself as Obama did.

McCain will surely berate and belittle Obama and try to continue to paint him as a celebrity and inexperienced, althought the later argument will make him look like a fool to unbiased observers. No convention acceptance speech can elaborate on all the nuances and fine details of a presidential policy plan, but I have never seen an acceptance speech lay out more plans and proposals than Obama's did, so you obviously were not listening or have no idea what acceptance speeches are usually like.
