my preference would be Rand Paul or Scott Walker

Paul has an interesting potential coalition: young people, Ronulans, evangelicals, Tea Party types, all like him. He basically starts with his father's supporters and builds from there. He's equally comfortable on The Daily Show or at a Tea Party rally. Will get zero support from Wall St. donors though.

Christie's "I get things done, I'm a straight talker, I'm above politics" schtick will wear thin fast. He's going to get challenged on policy positions by smart/appealing candidates like Jindal/Walker/Paul/Cruz/Rubio.

Don't forget Jeb will be the overwhelming corporate money boy and the libertarian monied guys will come around after they let Ran Paul have some run.

Jeb and Rubio, will be the ticker, though they start off slow by losing Iowa to the crazier types like Cruz or Paul.

    Interesting...

GOP plots to shorten 2016 primaries, weaken southern state influence

Fearing a Hillary Clinton glide to the nomination in 2016 while unpopular GOP contenders battle it out, Republicans are plotting a ‘Midwestern Super Tuesday’ and earlier convention.

The move toward a “Midwestern Super Tuesday” after the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida appears aimed in part at wresting control of the nominating process from social conservatives in the South in an effort to produce a nominee more likely to carry the election in November.

You're assuming that the tea party and social conservatives have a weaker influence in the Midwest. That's a silly assumption. Plenty of crazies in the Midwest too.

If you want to really limit the strength of crazies, change the voting structure. The Democrats instituted mandatory proportional representation a while back. For whatever reason, the Republicans still have some winner take all primaries and caucuses which is silly.

I think the biggest impact of this will be to narrow the field really quickly. I imagine after Midwest Super Tuesday, you'd quickly be down to Establishment Candidate vs Tea Party Candidate. That may not actually work in favor of the establishment guy because it will consolidate the opposition.

Rand Paul doesn't have a chance. He still has years to prove he isnt a radical like his father.
Scott Walker is a disaster, a puppet for anyone who lets him stay in politics. He is the epitome of a terrible politician.

At this point, I like Christie. Of course, that will likely change. I do not know much about Cruz.
Rubio, Ryan and Jindal are poor choices for a president. They all are dividers much like Obama.

My name is Refman and I approve this message.

The only thing in this post that I have a comment on is Cruz. He is the epitome of a divider. He belongs in the same grouping as Rubio and Ryan.

I can see a ticket of Christie and Rubio. Rubio would be an interesting pick. It would keep the crazies happy and he is young, Hispanic and from Florida.

Christie would be my choice. The only candidate that has shown that he puts country before party.

no, he puts Christie before party

He set the date for the NJ Senate election a few weeks before his own election so Booker wouldn't hurt his numbers. It cost the state millions more to hold two separate elections, and Lonegan might have defeated Booker if he had Christie's coat tails.

Scott Walker took on unions in a blue state and crushed them. He is the epitome of an excellent politician.

I would like to nominate Commodore for the Republican nomination. I think a social darwinist and secessionist is exactly what we need on the Republican ticket.

    You can dooooo it!

There’s Now A Coloring Book To Teach Your Children To Love Ted Cruz

Some of the “non-partisan, fact-driven” things children will learn from the new book are:

Ted Cruz Is A Man Of Great Virility And Stamina: Many “career establishment politicians are far too out of shape, old or overweight to even perform such a magnificent feat” as standing on the Senate floor and talking for over 21 hours. But not Ted Cruz!

Ted Cruz Can See The Future: Cruz spoke with “clairvoyant precision” about the “quickly approaching Obama Care disaster.

Cruz Is The Constitution’s Guardian: Ted Cruz is a “passionate fighter for limited government, economic growth, and the Constitution.

America Is A Christian Nation: American history is “replete with official references to the value and invocation of Divine guidance, including official Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, House and Senate chaplains, the national motto ‘In God We Trust,” the Pledge of Allegiance, [and] religious paintings in the National Gallery.” So hands off those government-sponsored Ten Commandments monuments!

Providing Health Care To People Who Can’t Afford It Is Worse Than War: Cruz’s failed stand against the Affordable Care Act “was so important because millions of citizens believe Obama Care is worse than any war. At least American soldiers have weapons with which to defend themselves.”

What if it comes down to Jeb Bush vs. Hillary Clinton? Rematch.

If Ben Carson is running, he has my vote.
