In the brokered convention, Cruz would be the nominee with either Rubio or Kasich as his VP if that is what is needed to defeat Trump. How is that thwarting the will of the voters? Trump and his 35% plurality are being outflanked by the 65% majority of Cruz-Rubio-Kasich voters against Trump. This is simply consolidation of delegates at the convention. Nobody is gonna sit in a smoke-filled room and declare the 3rd or 4th place candidate as the official nominee. Again, a Cruz-Rubio or Cruz-Kasich ticket makes more sense to defeat Trump and keep the party together and make Cruz, who is despised by many GOP voters, a bit more palatable in the general election. This is where the whole "let's make this a two-man race between Trump and Cruz" fails to take into account how much Cruz is disliked by the GOP and by moderates and everyone to the left of Cruz who will not show up to vote for him even if it meant stopping Trump as a protest vote. Many of them hated Cruz long before Trump arrived and made Cruz look sane again. You need to keep Rubio and Kasich in the race for that reason. Otherwise Trump runs away with the whole thing.
This logic and dream of a placid brokered convention - aka a rigged one - is brought to you by the same people who brought you "Trump will fade" " Rubio is the establishment lane" the "Party Decides" and all of the other mumbo jumbo that has turned out to be completely wrong and a complete misread of the state of the GOP. It could be right here, but it's just a dart toss. Suffice it to say the situation is unprecedented in the modern era.

when rubio makes his move... nice choices you have left there repugs- an illegal candidate and a reality show freak. what a joke of a party the gop is. RIP
It's not just that side, you have a con man, John Kasich, a Socialist, and someone who committed multiple felonies while Secretary of State. There is no good option.
fair enough. its getting to the point where we are choosing between drowning and burned alive. when things happen in the moment ..they oftentimes are not actually noticed at that time. this is pretty f-ing huge guys. today at 302 pm the GOP was pronounced dead.officially highjacked by a canadian, a reality star and abject extremism. fitting it comes on the ides of march. lots changed in rome after that one moment. et tu donkay ??!!!
I know kasich has no shot at winning, but he's impressed me the most in the debates, interviews and just now his concession speech. Unlike, Trump, Cruz, Hilary and to a different/lesser degree Sanders, Kasich's ideas, personality and behavior are reasonable, mature and dignifi.ed. Too bad he has no shot
Don't agree with Rubio on much, but my 'lids dropped a tear during his concession speech. Especially about the mom.
Talented speaker. He would have been much tougher for Hillary to go against than either Trunp or Cruz.
No doubt, he was the Republican party's best chance.....but it seems their party was hijacked by morons.
Rubio couldn't handle Trump. You call that abuse? You call that abuse? If he can't take Trump how can he take the abuse in a debate with Hillary?
When was Clinton indicted? I must have missed that. We'll just have to see- but I do think Hillary Clinton did a pretty good job as Secretary of State- if for nothing else in rebuilding relationships worldwide which were pretty damaged by the time 2008 rolled around. The problem is that the only thing people bring up are the server issue and Benghazi- which are legitimate gripes- but against the 100+ things Donald Trump has said or done that are reprehensible, doesn't seem like the same degree to me. I happen to think, objectively, Clinton wouldn't be a bad President- no one knows, of course, but on foreign policy, she's pretty well-versed and domestically- not sure. Maybe if it's Romney vs. Clinton, I'm choosing the Republican. But as long as the Republicans offer me a choice of Clinton vs. Trump or Cruz, they literally give me no choice. I mean, he is literally the worst candidate to be thisclose to being a major party nominee in the last 50 years, easily- and probably more. Go find someone worse than him- you can't do it.
The crimes happened even if no indictment ever happens. Let's not be children about it, you might as well be trying to say OJ was innocent. Just say that you don't care, at least then you'd be honest.
I wonder what Rubio's political future is going to be like. He made a nice speech in concession but I'm thinking he might've really damaged his brand.
The choices seem clear: 1. Run for governor in 2018. 2. Flip flop and run for re-election in the Senate this year. I don't know enough about Republican politics in Florida to know his chances for either. His chances to make another presidential run in 2020 don't seem to be very good. It may take an additional cycle for him to wash the stink off.
