Why is there so much thirst for Steve Kerr as a coach?

Steve Kerr was a successful executive but has no head coaching experience. He's merely the latest example of NBA general managers saying, "I want that," because his name has been linked to the New York Knicks job as a result of his ties to Phil Jackson.

It happens every year. A particular candidate's name is mentioned--regardless of his prior experience--and everyone starts salivating at the prospect of his becoming their favorite team's head coach. Many of the same people pushing for Mark Jackson's firing were urging NBA teams to hire him as far back as 2009, more than two years before he got the Warriors job.

Kerr seems knowledgeable and pragmatic so he's a popular coaching candidate. He also probably has good relationships with people in the league from his general managing days.

I wanna see Stan Van coaching next year

People like Steve Kerr due to his experience with Phil Jax, Pop and multiple rings.

As an aside, I'm surprised to see Hoiberg's name in there. I truly thought that he loved Iowa State. Neverthless, the team who signs him better get ready to deal with Rolls Royce as well

Mark Jackson. What a steal whoever gets him.

Scott Brooks needs to be let go now.

    Stan Van Gundy? Really?

Warriors might as well blow that team up if they hire that bum.

As uncharismatic as he is on commentary and even on shows like Open Court, what could he offer to Knicks with his limited coaching experience.

Even McHale at least has the player pedigree and a sense of humor, Kerr just seems like the biggest fence rider, and Jordan's biatch/three point shooter. No one on that team will respect him.

If he is hired, i'm almost convinced that Phil Jackson is just going to pull his strings until he builds the team he wants, then can him.

    Bye Bye Carmelo.

Mark Jackson is not that good. Of course anyone being compared to McHale will look like Phil Jackson.

Was he? To be honest, I only remember him for trading for Shaq and blowing up the Suns.

Maybe he'll try to land the Lakers job. Would certainly boost his acting career.

Kerr didn't want to trade for Shaq. He was out voted by the owner and funnily enough Pringles.

Firing Mark would be dumb. The team has been doing well under him.

IF they were interested in hiring Sloan however, then it would be good IMO.
