From what I remember, Mattress Mac offered 1/4 of the money to build a stadium but no one else offered any other part of it.
He wouldn't have been able to afford donating 30-40 million dollars. It would have relied heavily on tax dollars (like Reliant) and the referendum for Bud would have failed.
Just in case anyone is interested. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>WATCH LIVE 1PM: Memorial for Titans/Oilers owner Bud Adams <a href="http://t.co/j66oTchaBs">http://t.co/j66oTchaBs</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23HOUnews&src=hash">#HOUnews</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23KPRC&src=hash">#KPRC</a> <a href="http://t.co/QGMkAnsxhS">pic.twitter.com/QGMkAnsxhS</a></p>— KPRC Local 2 Houston (@KPRCLocal2) <a href="https://twitter.com/KPRCLocal2/statuses/394884746972393472">October 28, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
He offered to drum up support...and even that was half-hearted. No real measurable steps. I like Mattress Mac, but EVERYTHING he does is a marketing tool. Everything.
