Let me first say I was a huge Oiler fan and wasn't happy with him taking the team to Tenn. That said, the man just passed away, and obviously he can't hear or read the negative comments. However there are people who loved him and is it fair to them to attack him after he just died? I'm sure we've all been to a funeral of someone that we didn't like (family member, relative etc). I've NEVER been to a funeral where people got up and started speaking bad about the deceased person. Never!!! Why is that? Because most people know to shut their mouth at a time like this. If you have something negative to say (or are thinking negative thoughts) you keep them to yourself at this time as that's what a person with freakin class does!!!! When you spew this hate at this time all it does is reveal who and what YOU are. Either you get this or you don't and obviously a bunch of you don't. We're not talking about Charles Manson or some person who raped women or kids. We're talking some old man who ran his business in a way that we wouldn't, and whether we liked it or not, it was HIS team and he could do whatever he wanted with it.
This is the best I can muster: I'm sad I didn't get to pay my respects 50 years ago. Ah, screw it. When you live a bitter life, it's likely people will have bitter things to say about you. b*stard fired Bum and killed my childhood team. I hope he has a fun afterlife hanging with Hitler and Pol Pot.
Saturday, like a day before he died? Doesn't seem strange, that's not exactly a big time lapse. I assume he watched his Titans on Sunday Ticket, checked his fantasy scores, then slipped away peacefully in Xanadu. Not a bad way to go. #rosebud
So the police knew where he was at all times? Like this keep an eye on him from a distance for his own good, to protect him from Oiler's fans.
He lived alone in one big ass house. Imagine all the fun he had and the amount of hot broads he banged in there.
In the end, 2 things happened these last few days... Bum Phillips passed away Friday with his whole family around him. His wife, children, grand children, and those who he has coached over the years. People who still loved him 30 years later, and stood bedside. Bud Adams passes away alone in the office in his home in Houston. THAT, should speak volumes about these two men, who they were, who they loved, who loved them, and what they stood for. Draw your own conclusion
Never really understood why people think because someone died that they're suddenly immune to criticism. You reap what you sew. I'm sure Bud is up there in the sky flippin' the bird right back to all his critics, and he'd have it no other way. That being said, I respect his contribution to the NFL (and I'll miss seeing him at the Greenway Costco, too )
i used to believe that if your name was Bud you were likely to be an evil man but that was all in fun. you never really wish death upon anyone. he had his run as a great owner then the downfall like many men of power like adolf/stalin/Julius C/ king george Jr. Jr.(british one)
