The goal should be to bring violence down, not just gun violence. The US has a violence problem, not a gun violence problem.

Not just gun violence but all crime has been trending downward from highs in the 1980s. I think the link you make between the decrease in gun violence and gun rights isn't right. The decrease has much more to do with demographics, and moving past a large generational hump that were in the peak of their crime curve (young adulthood) in the late 80s. To show crime has moved with changes in gun policy or ownership, just showing co-incident secular change isn't enough.

Let him rot and suffocate to death in the heat on the pavement. This has to suck for the surgeon on stand by, he's gotta be like "**** this guy".

This nation has a serious mental health problem disguised as a "gun problem".

RIP to the crew, horrible news.

Hopefully, if he does survive, he still has a properly functioning brain. Can't really punish a vegetable.

Wouldn't being a vegetable for the rest of his life be enough of a punishment. I say no but still would be great.

Yeah... I'm not saying give cops batons and wish them the best of luck. But I definitely think they should put in place a plan to move away from guns by date x, replaced with some other kind of serious but non-deadly weaponry.

That said, your police number above if accurate is less than 10% of the number of annual U.S. Homicides. Plus, recent events notwithstanding, most police deaths of assume are at least in service of reducing crime/stopping criminals. Kind of apples and oranges... Even though In both cases removing guns should theoretically meaningfully lower the numbers.

Yes, it has a gun violence problem. They should be banned already. Then we wouldn't need mentally ill cops carrying either.

Most revolvers have bigger bullets than semi-automatic pistols (38 special, 357) so no, it's not common sense. One 357 magnum round will do more damage than 5 9mm rounds & revolvers are usually 5 shots (also depends if the bullets are fmj or hollows).

It has nothing to do with capacity because these gun aren't fully automatic, fully automatic guns are nfa items & they're not easy nor cheap to buy & find.

This is simply a problem of mental health, i'm sure most gun owners would be open to taking some sort of written psychological test before purchasing a gun but to say magazine capacity has anything to do with is just plain wrong.

Bad people are always going to find a way to hurt people, people can make bombs with items you can find at CVS.

The problem is the government has not gone out there & said "Hey we're going to get a team of psychologist to make up a mandatory written test before every background check"... It's funny because pro gun control people think gun owners are some hick rednecks from the woods and really, pro gun control people are the ones that sound like "Omgz starbuck shooting!! ban ak glock 15's!! fully machine guns why do you need them!!! rage!!!". Obviously you don't know how guns work.

Lol throwing insults around, this is the ****ing norm for some of you with your old age values where there's absolutely no ****ing way you can ever be wrong in your thick dense skulls leading to your confidence soaring above the clouds as to where you think you can insult someone.

I said it ALSO depends on the round. Obviously if you have some ****ing RIP ammo in your 9mm you're going to do some damage, have you seen the hole a 357 leaves?
