Per Wallacesports on Twitter:Top-level source insists Raptors have no interest in Heat's Mike Beasley or Mario Chalmers & seek $16 mil trade except.

As expected, supposedly imminent Bosh-Beasley swap between Toronto and Miami now being shot down in both cities-for now.

So basically according to this Toronto is willing to let him go for nothing, maybe a future first or second round pick if they want a 16 million trade exception

man Coangelo is going to be run out of town by the fans there.

So toronto is basically reporting what they are reading in the miami paper....big deal. Remember....its the stuff u dont read about that actually gets done...everything else is pure speculation aimed to sell papers and get website hits...period!

Ive got faith that given all the talent out there, Morey will put a playoff contender on the floor...and lets give the guy some credit....theres NO WAY he would be putting all this effort towards Bosh (assuming he is) if he didnt think he had a snowballs chance

This exact scenario is why if the Rockets can convince Bosh to come to Houston, that Toronto will take back our asset package of Hill+picks+jeffries+andersen and that's it and nothing more.

but if Toronto wants a trade exception to either save money or try to lure another FA then the Rockets may be out. I believe the Rockets have a 3.1 million TE but I dont believe that can be packaged with another player.

I would think that Toronto at the very least would want the 7-8 million in cash needed to buy out Jefferies or Battier, whomever is included in the deal.

Would less pony up that sort of cash? He had some money come back at him from the luxury tax last season so that may save some money. If all that was holding Toronto/Bosh back from making the deal was the buyout money I think Les would do it.

I just hope that Morey can at least make a case before Bosh forces Toronto's hand for a sign and trade to Miami. Sadly, Toronto will likely take just a trade exception and worthless picks if that is what Bosh wants. Though its not as attractive as the Rockets offer obviously, the TE can come in handy in hard times and Toronto may have no choice but to settle for it....If it were up to Toronto, they would much rather deal with Houston (or any other team with real assets) than Miami, but now they dont own the cards. They should've traded Bosh to us mid season, now they screwed themselves and us :(

i dont think Bosh can force Toronto's hand any more than they can force his....dont forget, THEy are holding the key to him making an extra 30 million...i think they both have each other by the short hairs imo and it is in both of their best interests to not force something one way or another

bottom line is that its ALL ABOUT THE MONEY....and Bosh can get the most in a s&t

We can only offer up 3M in cash. Would Les do it? Probably.

The Raptors would have to weight which asset package is better Hill + 1st round picks or a T.E. that expires in 1 year and then what types of talent will they be able to obtain with that T.E (considering they are rebuilding). Will it equal the talent of Hill + Picks? I don't think it will.

Funny, reports first say MIA can't give Beasley away, now he's is a desirable S&T return?

Toronto needs more guys with issues?

Isn't this his last year of guaranteed money though? He is sort of an expiring contract...and a low risk for them.

While Bosh doesn't own all the cards, he definitely has the upper hand now. That's why I mentioned Toronto should've traded him last year, then they could've gotten real assets. If you notice, the biggest sign n trades happen with one team getting the main player, and the other just a scrub and a large TE. This is what Toronto will get. Why they'll do it? The biggest reason is they will save money short term and then use that TE down the line when it's valuable to a team that is unloading a stud player but doesn't want salary back. While Toronto would rather dance with the Rockets, if Bosh states he's not interested, I really don't see what other choice Toronto has. I doubt they just call Bosh's bluff and let him walk and lose out on the TE. The only way Houston now has a shot is if that caravan makes it to Bosh before he inks the deal...

Wanting a pure TE makes more sense for Toronto if they want to flip it for a (near) star player. If Beasley and Chalmers go, the TE is about $9M-$10M and can't be combined with a player. That gets them Kirk Hinrich or Mo Williams.

$17M TE gets them anyone out there on the block (Arenas, Jefferson, etc)

Report says Raptors shipping Chris Bosh to Miami Heat

A report from Miami says the Raptors and Heat have agreed to a sign-and-trade transaction that would see Chris Bosh head to Florida as soon as the NBA free agent signing period is open.

However, Toronto sources downplayed the report, which was originally posted on the twitter account of a Miami newspaper columnist and ESPN contributor.

The post said Toronto would get a package that would include forward Michael Beasley, guard Mario Chalmers, centre-forward Joel Anthony, along with a trade exception and possibly draft picks.

If it’s true, the deal cannot be consummated until the NBA’s free agency period opens at 12:01 a.m. Thursday and cannot be officially announced by either team until a signing moratorium is lifted at 12:01 a.m. July 8.

The fact that Bosh may wind up in Miami once the free agency period begins would be no surprise, but the notions that he wouldn’t even listen to any other team or that Toronto and the Heat would have already reached agreement on a package run counter to earlier suggestions from Toronto insiders.

However, an unnamed NBA agent told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he expects Bosh to join the Heat soon after the process officially begins.

However, team sources have told the Star repeatedly they had very little interest in Beasley, the former second overall draft pick who has been plagued by inconsistent play and off-court issues since he joined the Heat.

    So really ...

Bosh was never interested or had any intention of coming to Houston.

Keep in mind that it's another Miami-based source.

If this happens both of these teams will be terrible.
