IMHO Orlando must be looking to get at least an All Star in return and so Mobley and Cato will not be enough for McGrady. Without Francis in the deal they probably won't go for it. That said I can see Houston trading Francis and Cato for McGrady plus change and if that goes through then trading Mobley for a PG or PF or Mobley in a package for both. Just a guess.
I feel bad for him. I felt really bad for Mooch too, even though he contributed next to nothing on the court. Cuttino especially. He showed a lot of loyalty to the organization. I dunno, I just can't help but look at the personal side of trades. For example, I'd hate to see JJ get dealt again, he deserves to spend a few years with a team to close out a nice career. But the bottom line is, the NBA's a business. It just sure doesn't seem like it when you hear Steve say that he wants to be a Rocket for life and when Cat takes less money to stay with the team. The feeling will pass if we get McGrady.
for the kind of money these guys make, i don't feel bad for them unless someone in their family dies or some similiar tragedy of that magnitude takes place. If you pay me 93 million dollars over 6 years, I really don't think you owe me much more.
I think he would be upset but once he got there he would be happy. He would once again be the man and he would have his buddy Cat. The team would be guard orientated with 2 defensive big men Cato & Okafur. If Hill comes back then they could use him as the point forward and allieviate some of the mistake SF makes handling the ball/leading the break. That doesn't sound too bad. Besides, Orlando is a very nice city.
one has to wonder how mobes is taking the news also. if he knew this... old thread ... then maybe he wouldn't mind so much. funny how things turn out (hopefully turn out).
Careful! Folks here don't want to look at the reality of the Orlando situation. No, evereyone here has convinced themselves that the ONLY good deal that Orlando can make is with Houston. Also T-Mac absolutely WANTS to come here - why he SAID so didn't he? (now all that's left is for T-Mac to TRADE himself and it's off to the 2004-2005 NBA Finals babee!) No, Orlando will go for the deal that best benefits THEM. They don't give a wit where T-Mac wants to go and they are the ones who'll decide the when and where NOT T-Mac.
We all saw at the end of the season how Steve was making his plea that he wants to be a Rocket forever. I think he new this was coming. And I do not think he wants to leave. However, I am wondering how JVG is taking this news or how much he is personally involved with the trade. I question this because (correct me if I am wrong), but didn't JVG say on 610am this past week that he was fine with Steve and Steve's progress with the new team direction.
Im sure JVG has a big say in this. He wants to build a chamionship. ANd he is gonna make some good this summer.
I believe JVG is ok with Steve -- but believes more than 'tweaking' is necessary to move on and up. I believe JVG is closely involved with personnel decisions. All personnel decisions. This is a bank breaker and if JVG isn't solid on it it cannot work.
Right away you know this Pacers poster is to be ignored. The notion of going for the highest number of players in a trade is laughable, particularly when you realize that the worse the players are, the more of them you can expect to be offered.
You have things a bit twisted Hillboy. Orlando isn't telling TMac where TMac is going to be traded. Why? Because all the cards are in Tracy's hands. No team will trade for Tracy without already having signed him to a contract extension. (He's opting out remember?) What stupid team will give away such important pieces of the listed teams without guaranteeing his services? You're right that Orlando will trade to the team that will give them the most value.... out of the teams that Tracy that will agree to a contract extension. I don't believe there are too many of those on his list.
No team will trade for McGrady unless an extension is agreed upon. How hard is this simple concept to understand?
True, and here comes another thing into the mix - it cannot really be in T-Mac's interest that Orlando gets a great deal - because that means his future team will be worse - if his main objective is winning, he will just tell Orlando "I'm going to Houston, nowhere else". Then Orlando has to live with whatever they can get. Under these conditions, we might be able to get T-Mac without having to give up Mobley.
exactly, this should be repeated over and over. It's not what Orlando wants, it's what Tracy McGrady wants.
